Ladies and gentlemen - in this thread I will showcase my medieval projects - mainly 15th century (WOTR, random units) as well as the odd Landsknechts and maybe even some Swedish "bondesoldater" in the future!
Anyway, here's my humble WOTR Yorkist force, I'll show the individual units now and tomorrow I'll take a good old army shot. Everything is Perry and I was inspired by the great work of Graham Turner when I built and painted this force.
-
And my first three Landknechts, super fun to paint! Perry sculpts from Wargames Foundry:
-
These all look great!! :)
-
As he said, great painting on those figs
-
Fantastic paintwork, I really like your choice of colours! The WOTR ones really do remind me of a Graham Turner painting, the artillery in particularly (not sure why that one stands out, I think it's just the colours).
Nice leaves on the bases too...
-
Lovely :)
-
Thanks a lot!
@Charlie_ Thanks man! I'm a huge fan of your work, especially the light cavalry! The artillery one was actually the first thing I did for my WOTR project, inspired by this particular painting by Turner:
-
As promised, a quick 'army' shot, kinda messy but you get the idea:
-
Absolutely brilliant! Masterful brushwork! Inspirational! I can't wait to start mine.
-
Thanks a lot - appreciate it! The 15th century is a very diverse and interesting period - especially when it comes to army building and painting.
-
Some shots of my Irish force so far:
-
Lovely collections, especially like the War of the Roses minis.
-
Amazing work! I really like how you've painted the Léine on the Kern!
-
Those Irish turned out very nicely.
-
Lovely, really like the muted colours.
-
Lovely looking Irish and landsknechts!
Best Iain

Thanks a lot guys - I'm currently working one some more Irish so stay tuned. In the meantime here's a quick shot of some of the Medieval scenery by Renedra/Perry Miniatures, built and painted last summer:
-
Excellent work on all three projects, but my favourite is the WoR.
I’d not seen Glenn Turners painting when I painted up this Front Rank Lancastrian gun. I went with the colours from the Front Rank website, not sure if they are correct?

I'ts FINALLY time for an update!
I've finished a bunch of more Irish figures, all from Perry with some subtle conversions here and there (mainly some headswaps to the gallowglass up to a unit of 10) - I'm going to add a group of Javelin-wielding Kern as well as some cavalry (based on the Footsore Dark Ages Irish cavalry since Perry's mounted kern still seems like a thing of the far future).
Anyway here are som scenic "army" shots of my Irish warband so far, thanks for looking!
-
Amazing work! The warband looks great!
The headswaps on the Gallowglass really go a long way with making a larger unit look varied
-
Nice work! Love the scenic shots too.
-
Thanks a lot! I actually took some scenic army shots of my Yorkist warband at the same time, but forgot to post... Oh well, since Never mind the Billhooks is ho right now it's a good a time as ever to post so here it is (might add some more archers in the future though):
-
Lovely :)
-
Nice work! The Yorkists look great!
-
Nicely done 8)
-
Looking good!
-
I finally got around to play some games the other night! A couple of friends are meaning to get into historical wargaming so I printed the free Ravenfeast rules from Little Wars TV, did some modifications and stats for WOTR-era troops and we ended up having a great series of games - the hours just flew by. I lost big time but it was still a great evening! 8)
-
Great looking game. :o
Love the terrain and figs.
-
Nice painting and games. :-* :-*
May i ask what modifications and stats you did for WOTR Ravenfeast rules? I wanted to do for HYW but I´am strugling with it.
-
Thanks - it was a great night! Used the Norman list for Yorkist/Lancastrian and Welsh list for Irish - worked pretty well but might do some more modifications next time!
-
Thank you for your answer and help. I was looking for the norman list for both the french and english but wanted to do 2 types of archers and crossbowmen. A normal one and a veteran where the veteran has more protection and morale since he already participated in combats.
About shooting i would give the same value.
