Placeholder for my build, a place of respite and contemplative rest on an Imperial vessel, now absorbed into a space hulk.
-
Good news! I enjoy these space hulk builds.
-
Looking forward to this one 8)

Ditto...even the simple description just oozes with character :)

Sounds awesome! Is it intended to be used in a game of Space Hulk?

Yes, it should fit with the other tiles I've made. I will need to double check the larger rooms in the expansions (I think Deathwing or the Campaigns book has some) and hopefully it will be able to stand in for one of those.
-
Good idea.

Started some layout today. The Space Hulk Campaigns book has an scenario called 'The Chapel' so I'm going to use that as the base board size. I sort of regret going with the 1.5" squares at this point- it makes a flippin' huge layout and takes up too much table space. Cursing GW for upping base sizes ;)

I want to create an altar area and tryptych altarpiece painting, so I'll need to come up with a few extra spaces on the north end. Since this tile is used quite a lot (I think the large rooms were introduced in the Deathwing box, I'll need to dig it out) I'll need to make a normal 'edge' for the altar side, and a more extensive religious looking side so that I can convert the room.
The pews are old Armorcast items, which I have had floating around my work area for at least twenty years. High time they were used.
-
Today I did some layout of the Hirst Arts castings I have on hand, hoping I wasn't going to need to cast some more. Now that I have two 3D printers this process seems pretty slow and archaic :)

This is going to be brilliant!
-
Whoa, it already looks terrific! 8)
-
That looks great already 8)

Thanks gents. Had a 'snow day' today, so spent a bit of time gluing components in place.

The altar will be loose, so that I can replace the tile underneath with a standard one, or hide stuff in a compartment underneath.
The center room tile is also removable. I designed a new tile type a few years ago- a grid to hold skulls (in this case, former captains), inspired by the Assassinorum game board.
-
Very interesting so far.
*goggles Cowboy Bebop...*
-
Finished up the tiles today- pretty much ready for paint now. I added magnets to link up with my corridors, and along the edge so that the room size can be adjusted. There are also magnets for the altarpiece. I'll likely be designing the frame for that in a 3D program.

The skulls have been put into the floor receptacles. After they are painted I'll put a thin piece of clear plastic over them.

That’s good that, I really like the relics in the floor. 8)
-
Holy relics, Batman!
Superb 8) :-*
-
Ohh nice! Love that idea of skull relic in the floor. Reminds me of some european cathedrals
-
Fantastic layout. looking forward to seeing it painted.
-
This is going to be really something!
-
Thanks for the comments all :)
Started on the altarpiece today. I found a nice late gothic altarpiece to use as a base image. I started off by drawing shapes in Illustrator, converting them to SVG, and importing them into Tinkercad.

I left the back panel off, as I want that very smooth. Styrene sheet is the plan for that. The side wings seemed a bit thin, so I'm going to try printing them with the back surface in place. We shall see!
-
I am looking forward to seeing this :o 8) 8)

Cracking!
I’m going up my game ;D

I’m going up my game ;D
It’s not a competition you know.
Oh, wait… lol
-
lol I don’t know what I wrote,‘Tis nonsense.
“I’ll have to up my game” That’s better.
I have a reputation you know to make sparkly trees :D
-
lol
-
Can’t wait to see how this turns out 8)
-
Successful print, pretty happy with the Mars2 right now. I probably didn't need to leave off the center panel, the side wings are very smooth. The predella (base of the altarpiece) is not wide enough front to back... in fact the whole thing is a bit thin. I'll have to make adjustments for future paintings :)

There's something satisfying about designing something and having it appear physically in about a day's time.
-
That printed up very well!
-
indeed it did
-
Wow, that's come out great. 8)
There might be something to this 3d printing lark lol

If you know what you are doing.
I can get the same paints & brushes as Constable had,
but my Hay wain would not look quite as nice. :D
-
Thanks all :)
One last pic of the build before I'm off to the painting phase. I added the center panel and embedded two magnets in the base to attach it to the low decorative wall.

Thanks for following along :)
-
Well that looks nice. :)
-
Thats fantastic 8)
-
That is impressive even without the paintings!
-
Loving this build with all the atmospheric details.
-
Great work on that 3d print. Looking forward to seeing the finished work

I have added a page to my blog (http://miniatureextravaganza.blogspot.com/) detailing some of the process for the Chapel. Here's a few pics of the finished product:

Superb idea and execution. The triptych design is terrific, as are the skull display cases.
-
This is so cool. GW should produce it as a set. I absolutely love it.

School's out, I'm back from the subsequent vacation to South America, so now I can FINALLY catch up on Lead Adventure Forum. And what more inspiring place than the Build Something contest?
Matt, you are a master at all you try your hand at! This looks amazing... :-* :-*

Hahaha, thanks. Glad to have you back!
Nothing like school getting out!
Sadly, I have gotten wrapped up in other things and although I have knocked out some hobby stuff, I'm not quite where I wanted to be by the end of June!
