Was "BOHICA" a term commonly used in 'Nam?
I can't say I like the name, and certainly don't find it appealing, but perhaps it had period relevance that should outweigh my aversion?
If this has already been discussed, please let me know and I'll read that discussion.

Yes.
Evidently originated in WW2 but mainly used in Vietnam.
"BOHICA. BOHICA stands for Bend Over, Here It Comes Again. The meaning is that something undesirable is going to happen again and that there's not much else one can do other than just endure it."
Along with many other famous military slang terms.

Yeah, we used those, particularly SNAFU, FUBAR, and BOHICA. We also used DILLIGAF......which is slang-acronymese for "Does It Look Like I Give a F**K"?

Mine too. I'll start reading it in earnest, likely tomorrow with a little bourbon after I shovel some more f***in' snow....

Think this is the first set of rules I have ever seen with an age restriction - this in itself could be a reason to purchase them...
- "These products are not advisable for under 14 years old unless supervised by an adult." See:https://www.empressminiatures.com/bohica-rule-set-2933-p.asp

Thats to stop you eating them. Oh and the picture on page 23 ;)
-
lol "eating them" lol
-
I don't much care for paper products in my diet. No worries there. But what about the pic on page 23?.
-
Here is a good play guide and review of the rules.

Interesting video. Thanks for posting it!

We are going to create a spare QRS and markers sheet to purchase separately at a small cost.
I have listed the markers that I think are necessary but have I missed anything?
My list is
STRESS – 1 X 24 – 2 X 16 – 3 X 8 – 5 X 8 - blank -Yellow
SUPPRESSED X 24 White.
WIA X 24 Red.
OVERWATCH X 24 Green.
Cheers, Paul.
-
I would think that would work, for platoon-sized games and smaller.
In our game, we didn't mark the amount of stress on units, only that they had stress. We then just applied the applicable numbers for the morale chart when the unit in question made its morale check and/or initiative check. It seemed to work out OK (except we forgot to to subtract the stress on the first few initiative rolls... :o).
-
Paul, those are the markers I did, too.

I can see me using the last one soon ;)
One of my particular favourites is an Australian one for someone with a particularly high opinion of their own abilities - FIGJAM.
F**k I'm Good, Just Ask Me.

A very nice review in WSS magazine. :)
And just to clarify the rules do cover French Indo China. ;)

Hooah! I saw that in my pdf copy, but was waiting for my paper copy to actually read. I'm a bit old school that way.
