Title: Britcon 2022 - Nottingham, 13/14 August: Demos Games sought
Post by: madaxeman on February 23, 2022, 10:53:25 AM

Britcon is a near-20-year old event run by the British Historical Games Society, which this year is moving from Manchester to to the heart of the UK's Lead Belt in Nottingham - and as we are in a new venue and a new city, we are currently looking for groups and individuals interested in staging demo and participation games with us in Nottingham this coming August.

The show is in it's regular mid-August (13-14th) timeslot, which for the Nottingham area means we are nestling neatly in a gap in the schedule of the nearby Partizan & Hammerhead shows, and will be running in the middle of Nottingham at Nottingham Trent University's shiny new Conference and Events centre right in the city centre making it easy for the gaming public to get to.

This year we are expecting well over 300 players, almost all playing a list of over 20 (as of today) historical systems, as well as several hundred walk-up show-only visitors. This is a record number of gaming periods, and includes our first ever official Too Fat Lardies games day taking place at Britcon as well.

The exhibition and demo space which will be open to the public and players from 10-4 on Saturday, with a part day on Sunday from 10-2 (which we expect will primarily be for gamers, with less walkups on Sunday than Saturday) all on the same floor as the competition gaming tables. All of our gamers will need to walk through the expo hall on their way in and out of the venue, and when getting drinks and snacks so they will be able to see any demo games as well. We even have onsite student-priced b&b accommodation if you and your friends want to stay over on Friday and/or Saturday evenings and sample the night-time delights of the UK's Wargaming Capital and make a proper weekend of it!

We’ll be promoting attendance  to our database of over 750 gamers, running a series of ads in the usual trade press, pushing news about the show out on our social media channels, and working with Gary at the Nottingham Wargames Collective to reach out to their 1,400-strong list of local gamers as well in order to make sure everyone in the catchment area hears about the Britcon show this August. As part of the trade area we are also offering a "new startup" zone for small local companies, supported by Gary and his team, where all of the local new producers will be grouped together with small 4' tables as part of our commitment to supporting the local manufacturing community.

Current traders are listed here on our website https://www.bhgs.org.uk/britcon-trade-show.html and the list of gaming periods (if that's your "thing") are listed here https://www.bhgs.org.uk/britcon---periods-being-played.html

If you're interested in finding out more about our demo and participation game opportunities, please feel to dm me or contact us at info@bhgs.org,uk or via our website https://www.bhgs.org.uk/contact.html
