Great regiment!
"On 8 February 1857, the 3rd Bombay Light Cavalry was faced by a square of well-trained infantry. The cavalry charged, led by Lieutenant Moore who spurred on his horse to crash through the Persian bayonets. The infantry square was broken - an impressive and rare feat in itself - but Moore was thrown from his horse and surrounded by the enemy.
Lieutenant Malcolmson gallantly fought his way to his fallen comrade, offered Moore his stirrup, and carried him away to safety."
I like a lot their turbans! :-*

They look superb

Great job! I'm working on the same unit. Could you share what the top of their turbans look like?

Thank you, I have that reference photo but unfortunately it doesn't show how the top of the turban should look. I'm not sure if the stripes are supposed to continue all the way back there and if so, what direction they'd be running.
-
i'd think no, that means the stripes are on the band which is bent and wrapped. I'm curious also to see how Neil painted it.

Pinterest is good for such things. It's a different regiment with a blue turban, but presumably the back is the same, with the red crown.

Interesting, so it wraps around the sides but not the crown. Thanks for sharing.
