Have you seen this new game coming from Archon Studios in Poland?
https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=16487 (https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=16487)
I listed it on the North Star site last Thursday, went on holiday for a few days, and come back to an avalanche of pre-orders! It's one of those times you think 'somethings going on here'.
Archon are only doing a limited first run, so if it's something you'd like, stick an order in quick.

Not very interested in the game itself but I wouldn't mind a couple of the miniatures for painting.
-
I would love this however the price seems far too steep at 10 miniatures for 75 pounds - hopefully, they will make the miniatures available separately, some evidently are...
Maybe the terrain bits make it worth it, or if the rules are actually any good, in which case the cards and other bits gain some value and use. See: https://archon-studio.com/shop/25-masters-of-the-universe

A number of Masters of the Universe miniatures are available on the likes of Etsy.

No Teela? No Beast Man? Surely it wouldn't have broken them to include two more major characters.. it's not like I'm expecting Fisto or Webstor.

I'd assume they're going to show up in expansions for it.
I'm tempted, but not sure if I have the space and time for it

It's interesting and I would get it as a small standalone game, but already have an extensive He-Man collection in 30mm for bigger games.
Looks like the same figures from their kickstarter boardgame, but converted to hard plastic.
-
I assume this is a game were no one gets badly hurt in a fight and good always wins lol. Do you get bonus Victory points for cheesy one liners?
Much as I loved He-man as a kid I have zilch interest in gaming it in the same way I wouldn't want to game the A team, Knight Rider, Danger mouse or Airwolf.
-
Oh, colour me interested! But looking at the gaming surface, it's grid based, which I find a bit of a let down.
So if/when the sprues become available seperately, I'd certainly buy them, but I certainly am not warming up for yet another game with upgrade set after upgrade set. Especially when it's limited to something like a grid.
I must admit to being a little bit tempted though...

The art looks more like the minicomics though

The nostalgia is nice, but it ticks zero boxes for me beyond that. I suppose that's a good thing since I still won't buy a Prodos/Archon product.
-
Oooh, them's Prodos eh? :?
-
The high level of interest reflects the average age of us on this
Forum: old enough to have been kids watching mid 80s TV :) They do look nice.

I didn't watch the cartoon that much, but this is very pretty. If I'd watched it a bit more, I'd probably be tempted.
Now ... a Thundercats game ...
-
For Thundercats you can get Crooked Dice Miniatures see:

Thundercats was a bit after my time. I remember the Ulysses 31 cartoon which might make a decent game?

Absolutely. But how about Transformers, MASK, Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors, Starcom, GI-Joe or Bravestarr?
All of these formed me as a lad, and all of them would make for excellent material for miniature games.
I grew up without many means and never could afford most of the associated toys (bar some smaller ones), so miniature ranges based on those cartoons can now fill in for all the stuff I dearly wanted as a boy.
Consequently, I'm a huge sucker for anything associated that's being produced... :D
-
Wizkids has a few official Transformers minis. I've got a Soundwave in progress now.
I backed the Masters of the Universe CMoN boardgame Kickstarter mainly for the minis (if the game is good, that's a bonus). I am a bit annoyed as these would certainly be easier to work with, though I feel a bit better about my decision considering how Prodos has hosed people in the past.
Also, the CMoN board game will have option Moral Lesson cards :D
-
Our own White Knight did a few minis for Jayce and the Wheeled warriors. I got a Jayce, Oon and Sawboss.
Also a few Blackstar minis, I got John Blackstar, Overlord and Neptul
I was hoping to use them for the Lead Painters League, I had planned a round titled Battle for the Fun Factory, with various saturday morning cartoon minis. Unfortunately the LPL died before I could use them :(
-
Oh, I've got almost the entire G1 line-up in metal (except Devastator who, understandably, is in resin) from when Traders Galaxy still made them for their Bot Wars game. Hopefully I'll be able to make a start on them this year. :D
And I'm well aware of the Prodos antics, so I'll buy my copy through retail channels. IF I take that plunge... ;)
+++EDIT+++ Hah! Fun Factory!! 8)

You can get various Transformers or not Transformers (Bot Wars). GI Joe would be my most wanted, you can get them from Footsore/SASM, but they are too expensive (I do have the Jonny Quest ones, and they are fabulous):

I agree, if there was a reliable "not secret source" line of classic GI Joes (read: the first few seasons, don't need anything after) I'd be dead tempted to write a whole frikkin' game to make use of them. Every damage result would be: knocks laser gun out of your target's hands.
I know there are ways to sorta do GI Joe, but until I can find a reliable source (3D printed, etc.) I'll be holding off.
-
Jeesh, you people have taken this way off topic.
Anyway, we've nearly sold out of our allocation of the first print run of Masters of the Universe Battleground.
-
Given the lashings of homo-eroticism that defines He-man it’s something of a pleasant surprise that these are being produced in Poland, a country not typically associated with progressive views on LGBTQI+ matters. Who would have thought that a gay icon would be popularised in such a conservative country? That’s one in the eye for Duda and Nick is to be congratulated for bringing this to a wider audience. Let’s hope this is a portent of things to come as gaming embraces wider diversity.
-
Really?
I must have been living under a rock for the past (almost) 40 years, because I never realized that the series was such an icon. It must have become that, much like the Top Gun volleyball scene then lol
Not that there's anything wrong with that (to quote Seinfeld), but I honestly wasn't aware. More power to 'em though.
And now let's get this back onto topic asap, because we're veering off into dangerous territory here...
-
Well done on getting it back on topic!
This is now a Commercial thread identifying a product for sale.
-
Bought the set right away. Love MotU and Archon does a fantastic job with their miniatures and their games are quite fun IMO. And the price seems fair to me if you see how much terrain you get with the box. And another Underworlds-like game sounds like fun to me! So I can't wait until next week when the stuff gets shipped!
-
Let u know what you think of the game! :)
I'm still on the fence because the whole game is apparently geared towards tournament play, and I'm not a fan of gaming grids; I much prefer free movement.
But then; if Battletech can do it, I don't see why this game can't also (eventually) be ported to an ungridded format. I believe I already said this; but I sincerely hope they will be releasing loose sprues too. I'm sure they'd sell like hot cakes...

Big fan of hex (or any kind of grid) movement. It makes moving way easier and counting range often too (although they do use a range ruler for range, interested in seeing how that works). For example, Deadzone works soooo well because of the grid-system. And personally I don't care for a tournament game either...but any game that is made for tournaments ought to be at least a little balanced. That is most important for a good game IMO, whether you play casual or competitive.

This is excellent news, especially Beastman.
