Question for the group. Has anyone ever been able to find a 1930s mechanic or driver on foot with a starting handle. Preferably looking frustrated as the bloody car won’t start. I was hoping to find something like this to use as a rolled or broken down token. Even just a bloke in overalls would be an option.
Found the lead adventure ones, post apocalyptic and space farers too.
I can find 1/32 scale German drivers starting an opel blitz
And I can find pit crews for scalextric
The last two are too big though as I want 28mm if possible to go with Brumm die-cast cars.
Any thoughts?

How about using the second standing guy from this set? A crank handle is an easy addition…drill hole into fist and glue in paper clip formed handle?

Have a look at Pulp Alley. They have a very nice lady mechanic.

For guys in overalls take a look at 'O' Gauge railway figures.

What about the mechanic that Tin Shed Gamer has in his Folies range on the 1st Corps site, he comes in the fuel pump set

Or get a sprue of WW2 British from Warlord & scape away the packs etc to make overalls, position as required & use a suitable head, I did it for BA f some Pulp Crew

I ended up making one from a fellow in overalls (right hand figure), but can't remember which small-time minis company the original was from:

Second from the right might also do, and that one I know is from a pack of five railroad workers, which I had THOUGHT were Eureka, but I don't see on their site, so can't recall the origin of them either.
However, maybe some of our big brains will recognize the source of those two minis, as the railroad workers especially were useful for a variety of workmen.

I didn't even think of naming the others, but yes, Aircav has it right. The broom head was just a make-do job with greenstuff.
The leftmost two are Copplestone; the second of whom's an American adventurer who's been converted a bit (pipe added and I replaced the original cowboy hat for a fedora from I-don't-recall-where).
That just leaves the railroad worker (or the pack he's from).

It really is a great set, even though it's technically western, you can use them right up through the 50's I'd say. I also used the second fellow in that pack as a tramp/labourer in this bunch:

I do like that car. It is everything you'd expect from a German creation of the period: Big, over engineered, and with a ridiculously outsized gun...
