I donīt plan to paint an army or so, but I loved this minis since I saw them the first time. Just had to paint them.

Sweet... Love the shield work.
-
Really nice.
Were did you get inspiration for the colors to use?
-
The hoplon is a LBM-Transfer ;) I got my inspiration from the Aventine page. Donīt know other sources.

Lars Porsena of Clusium,
by the Nine Gods he swore,
that the Great House of Tarquin,
should suffer wrong no more.
By the Nine Gods he swore it,
and named a trysting day,
and bade his messengers ride forth
East and West and South and North
to summon his array.
Ahem. No Etruscans, those, but totally spectacular. I think we should coin a phrase for that. "Hazelific" or something. Oh, I really really must start that Etruscan/Early Roman host I always wanted.
-
Superb!! :-* :-*
You really do need to do more now.
-
Fantastic work. That's an excellent command base. :-*
-
I love the main guy's hat. If he dipped his head in a bucket of Fairy Liquid and then his minion with the carnyx stood behind him and played it, you'd have one hell of a musical bubble-blower.
-
Great work :-* :-* :-*
Paint jobs on the cloaks are outstanding :-* :-*
-
Great brushwork on some excellent figures. I really need to get back to butchering the small pile I bought so I can order some more!
-
amazing....
who makes the miniatures?
-
Thanks all!
The miniatures are from Aventine Miniatures Hill Tribes Range.
And Chris: If you paint some Etruscans, Iīll give the Tribes a try!
-
That's amazing work! :-*
I second Plynkes about the hat too. Those ancient fellas really understood the importance of massive headgear to cow the conquered tribes.
-
thx
just checked it out
nice range - and the spare horses are a good idea
How do they fit with other ranges? (horses and men?)
-

The challenge is up! Iīll look into getting a bunch (I was aiming T&T-size, i.e. some groups of warriors in skirmish order rather than full-blown battle stuff, maybe using the Lord of the Rings rules), hopefully at a show, otherwise Iīll order some. Those are so much nicer than the Magister Militum I had my eyes on at Crisis...
-
Wonderful! Nice work all around, on the metallics especially. What are you using for washes?

OK matey! T&T Size is great, about 20-30 figs per side. Whatīs the deadline?
@Super Gibbon: I painted Glorious Gold over a dark Brown undercoat. Brushed it with Silver. then the washing: GW Sepia, VGC Smoke, Tamiya smoke (darkest shade) and Yellow Ink to achieve a glowing finish!

Sometime next autumn? Probably will be back to Germany by then. Maybe also get some cattle and women as victory objective markers by then...
;)

lol You've got to cut down on the drugs, mate...

Thatīs great. I like your objective marker idea :P Any good source of suitable, sparely dressed women?

Size-wise they are in the "larger 28mm" club. They mix fine with Crusader, for example.

There are some useful celtic civilians in the Black Tree range. Still got some lying around somewhere (in Germany and boxed up, though).
-
As mentioned on the Sweetwater forum - I like it very much (apart from the stone). :P
For civilians, these might do:
Foundry Germanic women
(http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/AG/1/8b.jpg)
or even these (sparely dressed) Bronze Age girls
(http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/BIBLICAL/8/6b.jpg)
You might also look at Warlord Games' Celtic civilians:

Anyway, you're a lucky bunch. Just send a call and you get somebody hooked for a new project. :'(

Splendid miniatures and excellent painting as usual, Hazel!
