Title: 6mm Olita(ish) June 1941 game AAR
Post by: mluther on May 16, 2022, 03:08:55 PM
I was in the mood to do an East Front game and hadn't gotten my Pz38ts and multitudes of T26s out lately so went with a table inspired by actions with the 7th Panzer and 3rd Mech Corp in Lithuania early in Operation Barbarossa.
Almost all armor for this game-Well, 1941 standards for armor at any rate.

That's a really great table you've got there. Lovely.

Great stuff. The table looks proper impressive; love the birch trees and the half-mown fields!

I see that some of your vehicles are based, others are not. Is this just due to different eras of collecting or due to the size of the vehicles?
I got a good bunch of 6mm WW2 vehicles in my lead pile, and I thought of basing them, simply because of the ease of handling. Do you find unbased 6mm tanks easy to handle/store?

I normally do not base my vehicles. But I made the mistake of buying some Butler Model prints. The tracks and wheels were truly terrible. They shouldn't even claim that they make models in 1/285.  So in order to hide these deformed sections I put them on bases.
Thanks

Aye, that explains it. Also: Thanks for the heads up. :) 3d printing just isn't there yet, it seems

3D printing can produce superb 6mm (and 3mm) vehicles. Butler Models cannot. There is a difference  ;)

Looks excellent, I particularly love the little silver birches. The overall ground effect is brilliant makes a great, cohesive table. I also agree with you about Butlers, every time I see their advertisement for some obscure vehicle I get excited but then see the awful finish/print quality in the promo picture and don’t bother (why haven’t they moved to resin?). I’ve only based my 6mm GHQ just to protect their barrels from the oft clumsy hands of opponents.

Thank you for posting
