A little Kipling to start your day . . .
A great and glorious thing it is
To learn, for seven years or so,
The Lord knows what of that and this,
Ere reckoned fit to face the foe —
The flying bullet down the Pass,
That whistles clear: "All flesh is grass."

Very nice pictures and setting...which Indian Pioners unit is the one of the second photo?..i suppose is a real one
-
They are the 1st Madras Pioneers; an infantry unit trained in engineering tasks.

thanks very much for your kind, excellent visual and written info..i made mine out of Sikh type infantry with kurta and big turban without khulla ..totally wrong choice :'( :'(..very nice touch also the pugaree on officer's cork helmet
-
The headgear on those pioneers is really striking. A little contrast from all the khaki goes a long way.

Hi Italwars, if you want Sikh pioneer you could make them as 34th, but I admit that these Madras turbans are very nice!

Inspiring work as always, Neil, thanks for sharing!
Meanwhile... Giorgio, for an Evil Khan, you are so helpful! You have even inspired me to add my own two-pence AKA: 32 anas, re: the legendary 23rd Sikh Pioneers...

Also those pioneers are nice and certainly are a good option..but i prefer the first ones with blue/re turban and kullah...the idea is always to try to add a colorful turban to the indian miniatures units..well i had some doubts about historically authenticity of the sikh pink turbans as depicted on Wargame Foundry catalogues :)

I agree. In my undefeatable army ( ;)) I have 34th Pioneer all khaki, 14th Ferezepore red, 15th Ludhiana red&yellow. Another interesting option Rattray's with white/blu. Umra Khan has a very nice one. But I see no opprtunity for Sikh pioneers other than Khaki. Also Mad Guru's picture is confirming that and when I say Mad Guru...well Ethan is the LAW lol

All are looking really good!
