put together a couple of 18mm 600 point French and British forces
really enjoying the mechanics even if I'm only playing Solo at the moment...
Figures are a mix of Blue moon and CGM

Good choice of rules they’re my groups favourite for playing small Napoleonic skirmishes! Good looking miniatures post some pictures of them ‘in action’!
-
soon as I sort my terrain and table I will
just need to trade off my 28mm stuff :)
-
So far, so good. With my eyes, painting 18s is a bit of a trick anymore. Huzzah to those of you who can do them justice, like you did these!
-
Haven’t played Song of Drums, but I’m a big fan of the SoBH engine and have played and tremendously enjoyed most of their fantasy games. It’s simple, fun and tactical.
Your minis look pretty good. Great skirmishers!
One question: in „normal“ SoBH missile attacks are usually a bit too harmless for my taste. How do they do it in SoDD? Have riflles and muskets special rules?

I've a LED natural light magnifying glass and small brushes :)

Hey DivisMal, a single Musket shot at long range is a short odds chance but musketry can be deadly if you use an aimed shot at short/medium range or if you have several figures base to base firing a volley together, both those reduce the defenders total when you work out the results ratio so are pretty nasty. Cheers!

Al very nice, very interctive rulessystem. I use it with my old Flintloque models.

Ah, thanks. It comes to my mind that perhaps with fantastic settings there are too many C4/C5 guys running around to make ranged combat effective.
-
They've scalled back the C4/5 - only old guard for the french
having a couple of chosen men come in handy too ;)
-
DivisMal as Kikuchiyo there’s no C5s and only a few C4s I’d say 99% are C2s. But with the aimed shot and volley fire modifiers coming off the defenders C value it helps the firer big time. I’d say it’s pretty historical a long range shot with a smoothbore is gonna be pretty inaccurate.
🙂

Thanks, Captain! That sounds reasonable and is very much in keeping with what we houseruled for most of our SoBH games.
I assume the ranges have also been slightly extended? (in the original SoBH it was just 1-3x the movement stick, i.e. most ranged weapons couldn’t be used effectively outside the charge distance).

Very nice indeed! How do Blue Moon and CGM measure up when you put them side by side on the table?
I'm a big fan of the Ganesha Games rules. During the pandemic I had a go at SoDS (ha!). https://www.tabletopstories.net/language/en/?s=song+of+drum (https://www.tabletopstories.net/language/en/?s=song+of+drum)
Also just solo, but I think that there's a lot of promise in those rules. Volleys do indeed work as a nice mechanism to make even lowlier combatants actually hit things.

They mix very well I doubt the casual observer would be able to work out which is which from the picture above
XAN fit quite well too as do stonewall

After alot of Procrastination I'm heading away from 18mm and towards 20mm Newline stuff
These boys helped me decide
Just need some french opponents
I'm thinking a unit of Chasseurs de Montagne would be cool but the NL Nassau are also tempting
-
The 5/60th need a foe
French light infantry - mostly Newline but I've 4 CGM as standins untill I can get the NL chasseurs painted up
-
Table set up for the first of aseveral games - this is a take and hold the bridge senario
-
The 60th chaps and those French lights look great! Well done!
-
Thanks going up to 200 has made painting them that bit easier :)
-
Waiting for some more minis from Newline so knocked this up over the weekend
-
I had forgotten I have these rules - thank you for the reminder - liking what you have done so far. Keep 'em coming...
