AWI Scenarios 3, New Garden Meeting House Scenario p. 29. I am looking on the map on p. 33 and it shows Cadwalader Legion Infantry on one of the roads. But I do not see the unit on the OB. Can anyone point out what I am missing?

I thought maybe Cadwalader’s Legion was another name for the Partizan Legion listed under Colonel Campbell’s Command in the OB?
The author of the scenario is a regular contributor to this forum so hopefully he will chime in shortly with the answer to your query.

Sorry, OC, but I have wracked my brains over this one and can only assume it is a typo by the publisher and should read "Lee's Legion Infantry" instead. I have looked through my notes (unfortunately I no longer have the original map) and consulted a more detailed orbat from Patrick O'Kelley's "Nothing but blood and slaughter" (Vol 3, 1781 @ p.130), but can find no mention of any officer named Cadwalader in any of the Rebel units, Legionary or otherwise.
Here is O'Kelley's take on the Rebel orbat - mine was simplified to provide sustainable units under the rules; bear in mind that not all of these contingents participated in either of the two minor actions (the Meeting House, then later at the Cross Roads):-
- Lee-s Legion Cavalry: two, possibly three troops (75)
- Lee's Legion Infantry: three dismounted troops (82)
- Campbell's Virginia State Troops and Militia (200)
- Continental Light Infantry, under Campbell's direction (110)
[O'Kelley lists this last unit as Kirkwood's Delawares, but my sources all say the Virginia company brigaded with Kirkwood]
- Lynch's Virginians, mostly riflemen (200)
[These do not seem to have participated in either action.]
- N Carolina riflemen (420)
[Some of these were mounted and had recently been taught to handle sabres - one can only imagine to what sort of standard; those still on foot - the vast majority - were probably not present at either action.]
Once again, apologies for the confusion and the fact that this was not picked up on; I don't recall ever being given a proof to check, but admit that I may be mistaken on that score after all these years!

Thank you for the information. The scenario books are a great resource for planning my games. I would be lost without them.
