Title: Any manufacturers do native americans with rifles (or pistols)?
Post by: Keltheos on June 28, 2022, 02:14:25 AM
Looking for some native american (tribe doesn't matter at this point really) modeled with rifles/muskets or pistols instead of bows/etc. I could convert things, but really looking for models already sculpted as intended that way. Apache, Navajo, Mohawk. Just not seeing any really out there.

What scale? Foundry have some very nice Apache and plains tribes with various weapons (especially the Apache!).

Dixon and Old Glory in 28mm would be two companies.
I would say that any company that does Indian Wars will
have warriors armed with rifles. Pistols not so much.

For Mohawk, Perry or Warlord/Conquest do great figures. Plenty of muskets. Someone I’m sure does Navajo but buggered if I remember who.

You could try the Northstar Miniatures, Draculas America, Skinwalker sets, One of the sets has no bows they are all pistols or rifles. the other set has  pistols and rifles and one bow.

What was said above, but add-in Clearco. I ordered some of his packs and they are wonderful figures.

Here is a LAF thread about his American Indians...

Black Scorpion has some.  This pack of four are all carrying firearms:

He has a couple of other Indian packs in his Tombstone range, but I think the above is the only one where all the figures have a rifle or pistol.

I think every company that does French & Indian Wars miniatures does the Indians primarily with muskets.  When I was building units, I had to scrounge to find ones to put together second tier units with bows.  (Finally went with Old Glory, and replaced the lead spaghetti bows with brass wire.)

I agree Cat, not many FIW about with bows, we have just one pack currently: FIW MOH5

I managed to sneak one bow-armed warrior into pack FIW HUR4

Eureka miniatures do "Powhatan warrior with musket." 6 variants, so you do get some variety.

If you have access to a 3d printer 3D Breed just released a Kickstarter called Join or Die Wanted a wild west collection. Some of the Sioux models have rifles and pistols. They come both mounted and on foot. They are nominally 32mm but you can easily scale them to match your existing collection.

The models will likely show up on their website for purchase soon.

In "The Western Range" from Galloping Major, the first pack of dismounted Apache Warriors are all armed with firearms: three with trapdoor Springfield Carbines and one with a Richards breech loading conversion of an 1860 Army Colt.
