Title: British and Us intervention force in Russia 1918
Post by: cipango666 on July 09, 2022, 04:51:06 PM
I have the Tiger British and American for Russian Civil War. Can anyone tell me the Vallejo colors for their greatcoats. In the Osprey book I have it seems a very dark (almost black) hue for the british. A very dark khaki or dark brown, perhaps?
Thank you very much.

What theater of war are you considering?
If you are interested in the North of Russia (Arkhangelsk Front), then the colors of the special winter uniforms will be almost the same for both armies, since they were outfitted from the same source.

The British barely fought on the Siberian front, and not in winter. That's why Cuprum is giving you the Northern Intervention.

Indeed, the participation of the British in the war with the Bolsheviks in the East of Russia was reduced mainly to the protection of the railway and various cargoes. The exception was a small detachment of sailors who first created and used an armored train with naval guns, and then these guns were transferred to two river steamers. These sailors were directly involved in the battles with the Red Army. There was also one episode with the participation of a battalion of British troops in battles against Bolshevik irregulars on the Ussuri front for a short period (it was in the summer and, accordingly, the winter uniform was not used).
However, there is always the option of playing "what if"? ;)
For the British contingent in the East of Russia, black fur coats were indeed made:

This is the picture I said, Cuprum. And the americans in Vladivostok had the same black greatcoats or khaki?

The Americans used khaki uniforms (sorry for the low quality of the picture - I don't have another illustration).

Thanks cuprum. It looks like I will have to lighten up my US 31st Infantry uniforms.

Thanks cuprum. It looks like I will have to lighten up my US 31st Infantry uniforms.

Deryabin's plates on the US Intervention, and the photos too, show a much darker colour than that plate shown by Cuprum.

Of course, the shade of the uniform, in this picture of poor quality, does not correspond to reality. I think this should be the standard color of the American uniform during this period..
