I've just gleaned this Salute freebie. I understand Kevin Dallimore did a painted up version of him. I've searched the interweb for any piccys of a painted figure, for inspiration...
but have drawn a blank, anyone help?
???
-
Um Harry - I don't mean to be pedantic, but was there supposed to be a pic with that post? :)
-
Er, no. I'm hoping someone can give me a link to a painted up figure!
-
Is he not basically in a school uniform?
Grey shorts, socks an jumper (or blue). Black shoes white shirt & cap in whatever school colours you fancy?
-
It is odd that there are no pictures of it painted all I could find was this https://www.fantoricalwargaming.com/post/boy-with-spitfire
...and it has been painted as a statue.

Gosh that is well painted the detail like the rondels on the Spitfire is remarkable given its size.
-
Want a painting source? I’d pull out The Battle of Britain and pop it into your VHS/ DVD/ Blueray player. IIRC there ‘s a scene where a returning airman gives a model Spitfire to his child.

"Never apologise Capn, it's a sign'a weakness!"
;)

Of course if you apologise constantly you run the risk of being taken for a Brit. ;)

And why would that be a problem?
-
Okay, Gentlemen. Let's settle down, now. :) Carlos was just making a joke.
As to the topic at hand, the good Mr. Haversham found that which he sought. It's all good! ;)
-
And why would that be a problem?
As someone born and part raised there I’ve never found it a problem, save for the odd occasion, explaining to the more clueless airline employee why I am carrying so many passports and how yes, I can, indeed have to, use different ones on different legs of my journey.
As the good Captain so rightly divined, it was a joke.
-
And a very apposite one.

Harry
The Salute guide had an article on the sculpting and painting of the figure with two paint variants - one in colour and one in black & white/grey shades. I can try and find my copy of the guide but I fear it may have been binned.

Thanks Stuart, I'd really appreciate that.
:)
-
Have you considered contacting Kevin Dallimore, John Treadway or the South London Warlords to see if they have the information?
-
No I haven't, but that's a great suggestion, thanks.
:)

Harry
V sorry but I couldn't find my copy of the programme but i did find this image - https://www.ebay.ie/itm/175188877799
The article was a decent read, especailly on how the figure was also painted black and white.
If i do stumble across it by accident, which is usually my way, I will post.
Good luck
Stuart

Thanks for that Stuart, much appreciated. I e-mailed Kevin Dallimore last week, no reply as yet, though.
