So I've decided to take a break from historicals and dip my toe into the post-apocalyptic pool with Zona Alfa. Since all my modern figures are for Africa, I've decided to deviate from the Eastern European setting and move everything to Mali. If interested, I've created a dossier on my event's background and creatures, which can be found on the blog.

Thanks Everyone! Hopefully we'll get in our first test game next month so we can see how it plays.

Excellent concept and brilliant execution! It was definitely worth taking a look at your blog. Excellent world building! 👍

An interesting take on the game. I'll look forward to some follow-ups. The figures are very nicely done

I agree with the others...this is a very cool idea. I enjoy seeing all the various settings people create for their ZA games. Thanks for sharing!

I love how you built your world solidly into the recent headlines. Very nice!

Cool idea.

I always wanted a series of Walking Dead done by the like the South Africans who did District 9 or Israelis who did Tehran.

Question (and please pardon my ignorance): Is Zona Alfa anything like premise of the 2010 film Monsters?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters_(2010_film)

Or perhaps the 2020 Netflix film Love and Monsters?

Thanks!

The rules are pretty loosely written without too much fluff on what the nature of the zone is. Just that it's a hostile place with dangerous people and creatures of unspecified origin (nuclear disaster, alien landing, dimensional rift) and people go into it to hunt for artifacts. So I think you could adapt it to that movie's premise without a problem. When talking to the creator on Facebook, his goal seems to be providing a basic rules framework and for people to use their own creativity in what they do with it.

In a reverse of what you are doing, I am using the rules (plus Kontraband) for Vietnam.

I love all the alternative Zona Alfa settings that crop up. I'm looking forward to more post on this setting.
In the meantime, I'm about to revisit my own (temporarily shelved) alternative British setting for ZA, Zona Albion.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone. As a bit of a lark, I found these Predator special forces figures that I'll be using as one of my stalker crews:

Really interesting conversion with a perfect setting. I love the choice of model for the Ifrit, it’s a perfect use of a miniature I’d previously dismissed (my wife is Kurdish and always laughs that the Koran says all Kurdish women are DJinn!) and the Deathstalkers especially. I had a pet deathstalker called Pickle and he was the most aggressive, fast moving and devious little blighter I’ve ever handled (not literally). Not a calm scorpion - I’d not like to meet a pack of mutated ones! (It’s not true, I’d end up wanting one as a pet!).
Looking forwards to more,
BeneathALeadMountain,
