Just seen the sad, but not entirely unexpected, news that Crisis has gone.
Won't go into the whys as they're blatantly obvious
Needless to say it'll be missed. Anyone who has been, either as a trader or punter, knows it was a cracking show and an even better weekend.

Sad, but as you say, not unexpected given last years' impact.
Out of interest, was this an advance notice to traders? I cannot find any info on their site, the Facebook page (still showing Nov 9) or using search engines.

*think so* - I'm on my hols at the moment so a little out of the loop. Willie has confirmed it on FB.

I think it was advance notice to traders, and Caliver then having a lament on Facebook. All the official Tin Soldier stuff says it's still going ahead. (at least an hour ago it did).
Shame.

Terrible news! Mrs. GG and I quite enjoyed Crisis so we are sad to see it end.

Very sad, it was a great opportunity to catch up with a lot of people. Especially that since our move earlier this year it’s basically a few blocks away.

That’s awful news, it was a great show and a great city, I was looking forward to a long weekend in Antwerp.

Well, that's a royal kick in the nards
It was always a lovely day of browsing, learning about new games and making good deals on models that would end up in the pile of shame.
I truelly enjoyed it and it was something I always looked forward to.
But it is not unexpected.

To be clear, unless there is some information I missed, it is only this year that is canceled, but not necessarily the end of the show as a whole.

It would take a major change of regulations (something that realistically isn't going to happen in the forseeable) for Crisis to come back in its most recent form. I suspect that if it does phoenix it will be as a much smaller event.

Let us all cross our fingers that the British will return to us (EU) as soon as possible. By far most traders will not be able (financially) to be present during European conventions....

Exactly , it would need an un-brexit to revive the show. Sadly enough I don#t think that will happen in the near future.

Nor should it.
There is a lot of growth and development in the hobby within Europe and if conventions looked at broadening their base to cover figure, board/hybrid and rpg games there is scope to build a strong event.

Tactica in Germany could grow I suppose but I do not see it becoming the “bridge” event that Crisis was, bringing continental European and British gaming communities together. And Spiel, while huge has not had the charm (and focus) of Crisis even before Brexit and Covid cut the attendance numbers.
Let's face it, the UK hosts a large part of the tabletop wargaming industry. While I have never been to Salute I do wonder how it has been impacted by continental European elements having new “roadblocks” in their path.
I do not foresee the UK rejoining the EU but a decent trade agreement that removes some of the current “roadblocks” could help resolve this situation.

Oh yeah, no doubt that it would have very few, if any, of the UK traders able to jump through all the required hoops and keep it financially worthwhile. But when I initially read your post, I thought they announced there wouldn't be any kind of Crisis ever again, which is not necessarily the case.
There have been more European mainland traders creeping up over the years, especially from Eastern Europe, so maybe the focus will shift in that direction.
