Here's an honest review of what I think of Soldiers of Napoleon after three gaming sessions (9 hours-ish). Certainly enough play, with breaks between, to read, ask questions and cogitate.
It also includes a few rule clarifications. Smart bunch here (not me, a bear of little brain) working things through.

Thanks for that review. Those rules are working their way up my 'to buy' list...

Thanks for the review.
CapnJim, they have MADE their way onto the purchased piles of myself
& Vodkafan. We plan to do it in 10mm (I've already purchased some Russians,
due to a bargain offer on e-bay) We will have some tweaks, such as just having
two bases per unit & losses being on a roster sheet.
I am getting nice feelings about the rules. :)

You'll enjoy them. They are very good.
If you have a reasonable playing surface (6x4) use the biggest pace measurement you feel isn't too long. I struggle with the small movement rate of line (28mm is 4") and will be upping it to 6", column 9", etc. difficult terrain will be 3+D3 inches for line, 3+D6 inches for column, musket range to 12" to keep the charge reach mechanic similar. 24" skirmish range, 48" range for 8/9pdrs, etc. I don't think this will alter the mechanics very much overall.

All my Nappy's are 15mm. A smattering of French, British, Prussian, Russian, and Austrian. Mostly infantry, a number of guns, but light on the cavalry. But still enough to have a decent fight.
Plus, I can do up to a 12'x5' or 10'x6' table...

I'm pretty well sorted for French (I actually added three units to these since this picture was taken)

and these Anglo-Portuguese
(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicZLtL6DMZG6OTzKsI3lL8VW40kV3mZ1PkqH8Qs1Ng11n76grM4CcI9ErBTghCENharXsYe79zIDtM13uSRY7HphR31Eg7Y2TSRWL0YopKkFZm2eJJopDcYOaXJ8wZ7Imqau9VCSHO_w1gaZtQ1NEAGjXm76uqzkQhaTKN9o_EQlx4A2NlLhlAZJB6/w640-h480/IMG_4229.JPG)
And I'm working on the Spanish (bought but only just started painting, just seven units done so far).
My table is a decent size too, although this is Zorndorf 1758, It shows my table with the drop leaf extension up (14'8" x 6'). Blessed I am, blessed. :)

Blessed I am as well. We had the opportunity to purchase a small building in our little downtown a few years ago for a VERY reasonable price. In no time, it was my dedicated wargame, cigars, and whiskey building. It even came with a bunch of really nice furniture - my painting desk and chair is REALLY comfortable! Just had to buy 4 each 2.5'x6' folding tables to game on.
Anyhoo, nice armies you have there!

Nice looking collection of minis!

Good review. I agree with pretty much everything based on two games. Text issues on the confusion over Commanders at Risk and one or two other points have been cleared up in forums, as you say, but those tiny issues aside, the rules are solid with innovative cleverness (one of my gaming mates is already ordering his own copy).
