Hello
I was playing MECCG and came across the card for the Great Shield of Rohan, it has a White Horse on it. I can't remember if this is based on the book or rather an "invention" for the game. Then I remembered that Citadel made two Rohirrim minis, one with White Horse Shield and one without. (Great work Cubs)!

The horse is in fact 'V2", Cubs added the wonderful horse to the Sun Shield
Did Tolkien ever present the shield desings?
Cheers

I did some googling after seeing your comment in my thread. It seems that the white horse is at least mentioned on the shield which Merry receives for his service in Rohan. I had assumed it was more certain than that, but I guess Tolkien was not as fond as GRRM of describing heraldry.

Here you go (heraldry if not shields!) - from 'The Ride of the Rohirrim' in The Return of the King:
Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them. Éomer rode there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in his speed, and the front of the first éored roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Théoden could not be overtaken.

Thanks, OK for Merry and the Banners. But I wonder why Citadel "came up with" the Sun Shield...

Theoden had a golden shield that caught the sun as the darkness broke.
