Title: The First Carlist War in 15mm
Post by: OB on August 07, 2022, 11:44:15 AM
This is the first of 4 posts on the First Carlist War.  I have armies for both sides including the various foreign contingents.  The figures are all 15/18mm, big 15s if you like.  They come from Capitan, QRF and Totentaz all of which work together.

As you can see, I’ve began with the Carlists.

If you would like to see the rest of them here is the link.

Which rules are you planning to use?

Thanks Robh.  I'm going to be using Field of Battle 3 with some minor amendments.

Here are the Isabelinos/Cristinos for the First Carlist War. The figures are from Capitan and QRF.  The uniforms are a bit more colourful than the Carlists.

I find that you have to wait until the mood takes you.  Odd really, you might think painting is just painting.  Not my experience at all.  I have to want to paint whatever it may be.

Very true but i am fortunate/unfortunate to work overseas, away from home so I have many spare hours everyday and the painting keeps me sane and relaxes me.  It's when I'm home with the family that time just vanishes lol

Also, like most wargamers, I have a very large lead mountain awaiting my attention.  15mm fantasy, Napoleonics and Italian War are filling my time at the minute

There’s a new piece on my blog about the foreign troops who fought for the Liberals in the First Carlist War. There are pics of French Foreign Legion and British Auxiliary Legion.  Horse, foot and guns for both.

The figures are from Capitan and QRF.

If it is of interest here is the link.

Thanks Jambo, a couple more units and this project is finally done.  I started it about 10 years ago.

My final First Carlist War piece is now up on my blog. It suggests some minor rule amendments to capture the flavour of that war.

If it is of interest here is the link.

Interesting set of articles. Although an "Original Piquet" diehard I think your take on changes to FoB is interesting. We use Rank and File for 1st Carlist War so could look at similar ideas.

Are those Marines the QRF guys?

Thanks Robh.  Piquet is more or less the reason I'm still gaming.

Yes, they are mostly the QRF guys.  The others are the LKM ones now available again at the link below.
