Title: Barn
Post by: kingsmt on August 15, 2022, 06:55:42 AM
My scratchbuilt all purpose AWI/F&IWar/ACW barn with an attached Pigsty.

Completely home made.

My AWI collection also includes buildings!

That barn is suitably ramshackle and could be used right up to the current day - there are similar structures standing here in California.

Nice pig sty - but where are the pigs!?  lol

I love the faded red siding.

The faded siding effect is easily done by adding a few drops of red ink to some Iso Alcohol.
Then just splash it on. The Alcohol will quickly dissipate and the weak red ink is left on the wood.

You have to experiment with the amounts. Generally, I use 2 OZ dropper bottles.
Fill it almost to the top and add about 10 drops of whatever color you wish.
Mix it up. Put a leftover piece of wood into the mix and see what color it turns.

More ink = more reddish.

And for goodness sakes!!! WRITE DOWN what your final mixture was.
No!! You will never remember it 3 years from now. LOL LOL
