Title: Slave Quarters
Post by: kingsmt on August 17, 2022, 12:07:53 AM
Continuing on with my terrain portfolio!
These are "slave quarters" for the Southern Colonies.

These are probably the 6 or 7 th time that I've made one of these.
Every time I show one off, it gets spoken for.

At least 3 of my figure painters have these!!!

Very simple to make. You can drop me a PM and I can guide you through it.

Generally, the roof is a pain to make.
Not so here.

We use Tar paper and leftover wood planks.
(Cereal box and coffee sticks)

You can see how simple this was to design.
Two balsa sheets with pencil scribes.
Spare wood used as spacers.
Cut out windows and doors, make a base and your done.

PM if you need any advice.

They look good.  And versatile, too.  You could find other uses for them as well.

I do believe I've seen a number of such buildings - in movies.  Looks the part.

Maybe someday I'll get to tour the southeast and take in some of the period architecture that still remains.

Nicely done. The woodwork looks suitable aged.

Curiously enough there was a bit of a kerfuffle quite recently with some moron in Mississippi attempting to rent out a former slave cabin as a weekend getaway on AirBnB.  ::)

Personally speaking, I'd be in favour of that, so long as the putative guests were fed, worked and treated like the former occupants. Hopefully by Sunday lunchtime they would stage an uprising and kill the owner into the bargain. ;)
