WOW was that an actual thing? Looks like something out of Mad Max.
-
Is that 3D printed? It is very nice.

Is that Mr McKenzie?
Looking at getting into 3D Resin printing. How easy would that be to re-scale into 1/50? I note that all previous projects /campaigns have been scaled at 15mm, 20mm and 1/56.
-
It is quite easy to rescale them in the slicing software. The only problem (at least for me) is that you need to remember to do it with all the parts. I have done it with his M113 and with loads of other stuff.
I would of course be a lot easier if they came in 1/50 from the beginning. 1/56 is just to small next to the Empress miniatures.
-
That looks outstanding indeed. :-* :-* Rescaling is easy to do.

Bob and I are very excited to present our latest project Vietnam Convoys.
The kickstarter for this is due to go live Friday 23rd of September.
Our first core model is the M54 Gun Truck “Eve of Destruction” used by the 523rd Transportation Company. The model represents the later version of the truck. As usual this model will be available pre-supported in three scales: 15mm (1:100), 20mm (1:72) and 28mm (1:56). Of course, gamers can rescale in the slicer to any scale they wish to use.
The format of the KS will be slightly different to our previous campaigns
• The good news is that because its based on models we have already done we can afford to do it at a reduced price.
• There will only be one pledge level which will get you both stowed and unstowed versions of the models
• It will run for the shortest duration on KS, 2 weeks only
• There will be the opportunity to pledge at the same time for our original ‘Nam KS
We will preview other exciting models for you over the next couple of weeks leading up to the 23rd of September

nice job

indde a nice job

I love the way the fuel tank is completely exposed. Makes you wonder how many of these went up in a burst of flame. Presumably diesel was harder to ignite. Or was it more a case of bolstering morale of the supply troops. "Don't worry we've kitted out your truck with all these guns!"
-
Rather like the look of that truck. Good job.
Be interested to see one next to a 28mm figure (preferably an Empress bloke) to get an idea of the size.
-
To fit the Empress Miniatures , it is best to rescale to 1/50. Which is easily done in a slicer software.

a lot were made to be multi fuel engines but an rpg in the side generaly does quite a bit of damage, i think they mainly used diesel in nam.

Here are some Vietnam Era Trucks (so the Gun Trucks have something to protect!)

It is not quite part of a convoy but here is a M151A1 with a 106mm Recoiless Rifle - Vietnam Era

Outstanding models indeed. Count me in on that Kickstarter ;)
-
Some very interesting possibilities with these.

Here are the next gun trucks - King Cobra and King Kong!! I think they turned out well.

I learn something new every day! Very cool, thanks for helping to educate me with those models. They look great! 👍
-
These are brilliant.
Do you have any painted pictures?
-
These are outstanding indeed!!!!!
-
I will have them painted up next week. It will be a challenge, most of the trucks were painted glossy black and I have never painted an all black vehicle.
-
These are great.
Not something I was aware of, and in many ways surprised to see the might US Army building field expedient lash-ups (and now you have said they were painted glossy black, I can’t help but think A-Team). The idea of welding a M113 hull to the back of a truck is pretty interesting - you would think that the engine and tyres of the truck were the weak point, and having an armoured box on the back wasn’t that much use.
The whole idea does remind me of German WWII vehicles were they took any hull they had and added the biggest gun they could find. I’m not sure the Germans went as far as taking two separate vehicles and welding them together to make a hybrid (by making this statement, I now expect to be shown many examples!)
-
Bob,
are you sure is glossy black, and not just washed standard OD?
-
There were a lot of trucks built during the war by various units but it seems that glossy black was certainly used on various trucks. The one that survived the war and was brought back certainly was.

Of course this museum picture is way too clean and nice compared to what was in the field but you can clearly see the paint job.
The reference material indicates that they were painted like this to intimidate the enemy and attract attention away from the rest of the convoy. There is even one of the truck that mounted a fire engine siren and would crank it up when going in to action.
-
As I promised, a painted up Gun Truck. Take it easy on me: it's a game piece not a model! It was a challenge to paint a black vehicle! This is done in 28mm for my Vietnam Games. I created a decal sheet and had it custom printed, added a real nice touch to it - no way I could do the logo freehand.

That is superb. I have 3 of the Gun Truck books and that epitomises them.
-
Outstanding painting and 3d print :-*
-
That is brilliant - :-*
-
Outstanding work. Really looks the part.
Are you doing 'Nancy', the OG one with the quad .50 cals as part of the range?
-
Brilliant work! 👍
-
These look wonderful.
Have I read it right these will be available as models and not just STL files.
-
Very nice job on the gun truck. Sure looks the part!
-
Here are some photos of the Armored Jeep versions! I think they turned out really well!

They are indeed! The M60 could do with replacing but I suspect most people will use the Empress ARVN gunners as crew anyway. Very nicely done.
-
They do look good. Looking forward to seeing them painted...which might help now those M60s look...
-
The M60 look that way, I suppose, to make them printable. The vehicles look really nice . Have to get some more crew figures now
-
Here is another Gun Truck "Brutus". This one has a Mini-Gun in the back.
There is a nice documentery on Brutus here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUODzYenCq4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUODzYenCq4)
There was also an Armored Jeep called Lil Brutus as well.

Are these available post-ks, ie retail? Very nice. A supplement are you thinking of a tractor/trailer M54? Can have a couple of good variants - fuel Bowser, container, open bed with load.
Cheers
John
