Title: 7YW Le Noble Jager Officer Question
Post by: OB on September 18, 2022, 06:41:05 PM
According to the Kronoskaf 7YW site we don’t have any info’ on the officer uniform of the Prussian Le Noble Jager.

I want to add an officer figure to mine to bring the unit up to strength.  It seems I have two options:

Add an ordinary Prussian officer figure painted in the green jager uniform

Or

Add a jager figure with his cap laced silver to denote an officer.

Any thoughts or advice most welcome.

Nice uniform and a different unit to do, I have no added info but most of the other Frei Infantrie officers had gold laced tricornes in a scallop design, hard to say if that would be the case with Le Noble due to the different headgear from other Jager units, your call and who's to argue if you are right or wrong!! :) Be interested to see your finished unit. :)

A gold lace tricorne it is. Thanks Jambo that makes perfect sense.

Lovely painting!  :-*

Sorry, I didn't notice this thread earlier.  There's no information on Jager officers in either Bleckwenn or Summerfield.  There were only ten Jager per company in each company of 100-150 men, so the battalion normally had only 50 Jager at full strength (probably doubled when the unit was expanded to two battalions in 1761).  It's entirely probable therefore, that they didn't have officers and there was probably just an NCO in charge of each company's Jager detachment.  If all the Jager were grouped together, they were probably placed under a battalion officer.

Thanks Mark.  Too late for the officer but that's useful deployment info'.  I'll likely split the battalion into two small units.

Sorry about that. :(

According to Summerfield the 2nd Battalion was raised during the winter of 1760/61, but then only II. Battalion is mentioned as going to war (as part of Prince Henry's Corps and fighting at Freiburg), so it's not clear if the whole lot ever served together.

One day I'll paint them when I can find what I did with my Lancashire Games stash!

Not at all, every day is a school day!

You probably put your Lancashire stuff somewhere safe.  Last year I came across a stash of Ancients.  I can't even remember buying them.

I've found all the spare dragoons, but the Le Noble Jager have eluded me (same figures as yours!). :(

Somewhere safe. Many, many of my things have been put there. Rules, figures, who knows what else. Sigh.

My wife even puts some of her stuff there too.

It is a wonderful facility, free at the point of use.  At once everywhere and nowhere. Space and time cannot prevail against it.  Accessible to men, women and children until it isn't.

If we could understand it we would be like gods.
