A few old Citadel, plus one Asgard, chais beastmen.
From the days when chaos was chaos and very unusual.
-
Wonderful weirdness back then. Really like the bird-beak guy!
-
Those are truly weird! Great painting on them too!
I don’t know when chaos turned into a regiment look, rather than being chaotic. I remember one of the early citadel journal’s having tables to roll for what mutation your chaos figures got - tentacles etc - with the expectation you would scratch build them onto the figure.
-
Excellent! Properly chaotic! That bird-legged broo is a fantastic figure - and great painting on all of them!
-
Excellent stuff, I especially like the wasp man and the paint job you’ve given him. A great deal of feeling and life in the sculpt which is really energised by your superb paint scheme.
Thank you for posting,
Andrew

Ooooh, amazing miniatures and painting; specially the bird man, awesome :-*
-
Cheers all, more to follow

Amazing stuff very well painted. It’s a shame that the models are oop and seem to have a similar value as gold nowadays…

Some of the Citadel ones are scarily expensive these days.
Fortunately, some of the Asgard ones are still available, from Alternative Armies in UK

Amazing!
Which ones are from Asgard?

It's worth noting that most Asgard stuff is available from Viking Forge in the US - including the Creatures of Chaos (http://www.thevikingforge.net/25mm-fantasy-Creatures-of-Chaos.html).

Forgot about that, mind you with the current exchange rates and customs, it will be cheaper to commission new sculpts and start a company to cast them!
-
Truly exotic & weired. Especially like the one with the big beak.

Always loved this era of chaos beast men and broo. Have you taken a look at the Pantheon of Chaos from Nightmare. I think they're lovely and have a lot of that same aesthetic. They still aren't cheap... but they are much cheaper than the old Citadel minis on eBay or the like: knightmareminiatures.com/category/pantheon-of-chaos/

Lovely stuff, also have a look at the Eureka Range of Chaos Army, some superb stuff of nightmares.
-
Curse you for forcing me to read this topic and check the Eureka UK site to see that the Chaos Army range has new additions, that I have had to purchase!!

I have resisted them......for now!
They are superb, very Durer/Escher

Oh wow. These are fantastic. I'd forgotten how much I loved the old beastmen. So much weirder than the buff fauns of today.

I had no idea these existed. I think I'm a bit in love with them.

I haven't seen those sculpts and I'm sorry I never got a chance to get some of them back in the day. Cracking paint jobs!
