Over the summer, I have been slowly working on my Oathmatk wood elf army, inspired by my first love: the 1996 GW Wood Elves. Even repainted my old treemen to use as either ogre linebreakers or trolls.

Lovely work, you've certainly captured the wood elf vibe.
-
I’ve got to agree with Voltan, those are lovely!
-
Superb painting :-* Well done :)
-
I like those! Great concept and the choices of palette works very well. The basing and movement trays fit the theme perfectly, too. I will be watching this thread!

Great work! 👍

Lovely. You thinking of cavalry?
-
That’s a fantastic looking army!!!

Superb stuff!!

Those came out great.

Lovely. You thinking of cavalry?
Thank you! Yeah. Not sure whether to kitbash or wait for an official kit

Those look great!

What a wonderful army! 8)
Like you, my first WHFB love were the old Wood Elves. As good as the last plastic iteration (before the end of the Old World) was, I've always had a soft spot for civilized elves who happen to live in the woods, versus the completely feral/Wild Hunt type of elves that came after.
The Wood Elf army book actually was the first WHFB book I ever purchased! They really reflected the way I imagined how the Wood Elves from The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings would look. So I really like the uniformity of your rank and file troops, while they still retain some form of individuality; very reminiscent of the nineties indeed.
My absolute favourite unit were the Waywatchers. Ghillied up ninja-elves; what's not to like? :D Will you be doing those too?
Can't wait to see what you'll be doing with the cavalry; should be interesting for sure. I'll be watching this space...

A great classic way to paint these 😊
Thanks for sharing 👍

Those are really spiffy! I loved the old Grenadier figures too.

Awesome work. While I never played it, I always admired the Old World fantasy stuff. Proper Warhammer Fantasy in my opinion. It's awesome that with new companies and 3D prints, etc. that people can get back to the glory days.

Great looking units, there! 8)
I just took up some fantasy gaming again, after a LONG pause caused by various things, and seeing a post like this on my return to the forum is great!
-
Looks great! I've been staring forlornly at my never finished wood elf army and thinking of using the models for a Saga:Age of fantasy army. These look like they would sit really well alongside my plastic glade guard.

I LOVE this army. I've wanted to do a Scoia'tael army ever since Gwent came out and I think this thread might just persuade me to put down my 30k project and start kitbashing elves! You did a wonderful crisp job with the Oathmark kits and the the basing really ties the whole visual together!
-
These are beautifully done, and look absolutely fantastic - the inspiration is certainly very clear too. :)
It seems that Oathmark releases have had a big slow-down after the four books were all put out, which is a shame; I would certainly consider kit-bashing your own cavalry in the meantime, and the Human set would certainly mix well with the Elf trooper kits to make some suitable Wood Elf Glade Riders. Perhaps for extra "swoosh", add cloaks from some Firestorm medieval Knights? I think you can buy individual sprues from various places if you don't need the whole box.
Would you add some Dryads too? Perhaps as Warriors/Linebreakers?
-
Thank you so much!
Yes I have a bunch of the old metal dryads which I intend to use as linebreakers 8)

Finished a unit of 15 wood elf swordsmen and took so.e army shots :D
-
Beautiful work on that army! I like pretty well everything you’ve done there, great choice of palette, excellent painting and basing, it just all looks great together.
-
Incredible looking army, like Pattus says, everything goes together super well.
-
beautiful execution! looks great and the oatmark elves really capture that woodelves vibe... very nice!
-
That's a wonderful looking army. Really evocative. I think my favourite unit are the ?sea elf marines?
-
Ah, those treemen! I have only two of them, and sadly only one painted (shame on me!).
I like your use of 'earth'-tones on this army, gives a nice Dark Ages-vibe.
