Artizan Castings, 28mm, Commission Work

Great work, keep the pics coming.

Nicely done albeit whoever commissioned those probably needs to do a bit more research. The AIF didn’t issue battledress, they kept using the old tunic through to Korea*, boots were brown not black and Australia never adopted the No.4 Lee Enfield, sticking with the old SMLE until the late 1950s. In short, they look nothing like Australians. Not your fault though.
To be fair there is a paucity of AIF troops in temperate dress. About the only ones I can think of are some fairly indifferent ones from Company B wearing jerkins and greatcoats for Bardia. Figure manufacturers take note.
* Battledress in a different form (open collar) didn’t get issued until the mid 1950s and then stuck around until the 1980s.

Agree with CM, this is not how I envisage Australian North African Infantry…from the South Australian Army Museum, the garb of a 2/48 Battalion infantryman in North Africa…

Also don’t think Aussies got Stens in North Africa.

Good looking crew!

Disregarding their level of historical accuracy for a moment, those Aussies sure look good. Lovely paint jobs!
