I found this mini in the bottom of my bits box, chipped and unloved so I decided to give it a new lick of paint.
I think I got a few more of the VOR Pharon around somewhere.......If only I could remember where I put my rule-book?

awww I freaking loved that game, used to do a Union, Neo Sov and was looking at the pharon when the company went under
-
Me too!
I had Neo Sovs and Pharon!
(see:http://www.adpublishing.de/html/vor.html (http://www.adpublishing.de/html/vor.html))
Nice paint job BTW!

Now I know why they remind me of GW Necrons...

The Pharon background is way cooler! And was there before the Necrons were even mentioned anywhere...
;)

Sorry! I'm still unable to break free of the Emperor's Shackles and leave this galaxy behind lol
-
Nice paint job.
Always liked the Pharon figures and fluff.

Never actually looked at Vor before.
Looks reminiscent of Stargate.....

Stargate film released in 1994
Looking at the back of the VOR Pharon forcebook - 2000.
Some of the imagery is similar in that they (Pharon and SG) are both Ancient Egypt + Sci-Fi.
However, in VOR the Pharon (formerly a dead and mummified race, but due to the strange energies of the Maelstrom have been reanimated) are only 1 of the 7 alien factions/themes.

Shiny! Great job. :o
I've got a bunch of Union troopers and growlers prepped and ready to paint, but haven't gotten around to actually painting them. Distracted with SuperSystem stuff, I suppose.

Supposedly there will be more, too. Along with better Custom Force rules. VOR 2.0 is in the works, after 10+ years Skuzzy got everything straightened out and has been hammering away at a new edition of the rules.
Which excites me, as VOR was my introduction into wargaming.

Actually the Necrons made their first appearance in Gorkamorka in 1997 and a free Necron figure was included in WDUK 217 (Februari 1998). Vor came shortly after that.
I've had a look at the game when it was published but it never really took off in the Netherlands and I didn't buy it. It didn't appeal to me that much either. Instead I got into VOID which was also available at roughly the same time and had some connections with Warzone.

All the old Vor models are still available through Ironwind metals:
http://ironwindmetals.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=94&osCsid=d59db86a93dc00fda6563444d3f9341a
And will continue to be available after the eventual release of Vor 2.0 even though they will probaly go with a new manufacturer.
-
Really nice work Papa Midnight, lovely metalics! :-*
And yes, the VOR range is still available through Ral Partha Europe too.

...
... and the first appearance of what might reasonably be called 'proto-necrons' was in Space Crusade, which came out in 1990. At least, my understanding is that the Necrons developed from the "Chaos Androids" of that game (basically, they're all undead cybermen, aren't they?)

NIce paint job.Must get around to doing some thing with my Vor miniatures.Looking forward to the game making a come back too.
-
Brilliant paint job PM, absolutely love the red gems on the gold armor :-*. Cant wait to see more. I look forward to VOR 2.0 as well, due to having about 30 union sitting on the paint table waiting camo ::)

Wrongo!!! :D As has already been pointed out you can find chaos androids back in the jointly published GW & MB games advanced space crusade and in epic scale 1st edition spacemarine too.
Anyway...
Lovely pharon there, as already said a great stargate proxy, what did the rest of the range look like, ancient or modern, (never got into Void/warzone really).

Thanks for all the comments!
I'm really pleased that VOR is making a bit of a come back. I never really understood its failings to start with....Good background, good combat system and the facility to make your own custom units.......what's not to like? I wasn't that struck on the Union Troopers but the Pharons , Growlers and Neo-Soviets were cool.
I've got some Pharon troops of various types which I will probably re-paint and them boost up with some converted GW Tomb Lords.
I'll post some pics of my other minis soon.

It was FASA going under that did it. Fortunately the creator had a net in his contract for just such an occasion, so all rights went back to him. Some legal struggles for art and such later, personal things, yadda yadda yadda, he's now back on track.
-
Yeah it took a few years but he finaly got it back.
-
Just finished a couple of "Fist of Anubis" minis to go with my Pharon Lord.

Missed the update for this. Really cool work, Pappa. You have convinced me to get a Pharon Lord to use as a Goa'uld construct for my Jaffa army. I both hate and admire you. lol

Your painting is great.Just been sorting out my Vor miniatures. Also ordered some more from Ral Partha UK.
Do you have more to show?
