Title: Old School Sculptor, Julian Benassi RIP
Post by: The Dozing Dragon on November 17, 2022, 05:14:13 PM
I just learned that the old school sculptor, Major Julian Benassi passed away in August this year :( Not sure how many will remember him but I grew up looking at his sculpts in old Military Modelling adverts.

Yes, I recall the ads and the name. I'm not sure 25mm was ever really his métier, the large scale (75mm?) sculpts were very good though.

Oh yes I remember him from Military Modelling too. He had a wonderful style of his own, but I never had a single one of his figures, just drooled at the pictures.  His name brings back a lot of school age memories.

yes, there was a thread here at the time I believe - sure I posted or read in one. Maybe elsewhere tho'.

his inimitable style in, as said above, the larger figure scales is an indelible part of memories from my formative years - inextricably linked with Military Modelling, Hinchliffe etc.

I hadn't realised he'd done 25mms. Wouldn't have guessed it was him from the pics of the figures on Dear Tony Blair, must admit.
They are lovely tho' - great character in the poses.
