Title: 6 TH Virginia Regiment
Post by: kingsmt on November 28, 2022, 04:52:45 AM
I bet you thought that I was out of AWI Units.
Perish the thought!!

I'm back with my 6 TH Virginia.

The label on the underside of the base is how I keep track of who's who.

I'll be back with more AWI. I'm not halfway through yet!!

Good bejeebers!  More nice figures.  Where do your store all this stuff?  :)

Hey Capt,   I believe I posted about how I store everything in 8 drawer RUB Cabinets. I line them with magnetic sheeting and I can fit 4 Regiments (36 figures per regiment) in each drawer. That's 144 figures per drawer.
6 or 8 drawers in each cabinet. More than 25 cabinets.
You do the Math. It makes my head hurt!!!

I also have some in crush proof "pizza" type boxes from U-Line.
Anyway you slice it, it's a lot of stuff!!!

It's sheer madness!  And lots of fun.

I have 202 infantry units in my AWI collection (in process, not painted) and 20+4 cavalry regiments (the +4 are cuirassier for SYW style hypotheticals battles using AWI figures) plus plenty of artillery, command, casualties, and throngs of civilians along with carts and wagons and the beasts to pull them.  Totals over 5,000 figures.  My regiments are only 18 or 24 figures for infantry, though, and 12 - but matching dismounts for the 20 historically existing units (some only at company strength but what the heck) - for the cavalry.

While my collection in progress is a bit over the top, The King's collection might be more along the lines of a volcanic eruption.  And it isn't even a gaming collection, just an overriding passion it seems.  And all I can say, is more power to him.  (yes, I know King's Mountain references an AWI battle but I figure with this collection, we can call him The King!  lol)

You did post that.  I was talking about the sheer amount of space required to store your VERY impressive collection!  :)

I thought I had a decent AWI collection.  But mine pales in comparison to yours, and even Fifteensaway's... ;)

Capt,   You're right about running out of room. I am at the point where it is time to wind down.
I've been selling off unwanted figures and accessories for a few years now.

But the AWI stays.
I'll always make room for one more Regiment!
