Hi all,

Been reading through posts on here for a couple months now and thought I'd set up an account! I've been painting miniatures for about a year and a half now. I mostly paint Dark Age/Fantasy 28mm. I've been a D&D player most of my life and in many respects that is what got me into the mini painting. I've tried to find miniatures that fit with the realistic fantasy world that I have been working on – to this end I have been using historical miniatures for fantasy work (Google searches along such lines were what originally lead me to LAF). Currently most of my miniatures are Reconquer and Medbury (3d printers are fun but a can be a pain) as well as a smattering of Gripping Beast Vikings and Oathmark Goblins.

I look forward to future chats and interactions as pleasant distractions from my PhD ;)

Greetings Beorthnoth (apologies for the late reply). I like the sound of your ideas for Hard Fantasy (is that a term like Hard Sci-fi?) it’s definitely worth checking out some of the members posting Lord of the Rings threads as there are a number of people building and playing in a more dark age/Original Tolkien and less P.Jackson world. Victrix is a company that pops up quite regularly in such threads and are well worth a look.

Cheers! Some of those more traditional Tolkien threads are how I found LAF. I've got some Victrix Vikings stuck in the post somewhere between the UK and US!

If it’s any help the Post Office announced they thought they’d sorted things out now so the international situation should start to get back to normal (I wouldn’t like to be sorting out that mess!) I shall keep my fingers crossed for their safe arrival and look forward to see what you do with them.
