Title: Rimfire: "The Chinese Laundry"....
Post by: Murphy on January 24, 2023, 11:17:49 PM
So as I have said in my last post, I have gotten back onto my project of my Western Town of Rimfire, (Arizona Territory), and have been busily getting back into building some of the buildings and structures needed.

I was finally able to get one finished today.

So for your enjoyment, may I present to you, Rimfire's only "Genuine Chinese Laundry" run by none other than Mr. Wun Hung Lo himself, (assisted by his nephews Wang Chung and Chung King).
The sign on the side reads "You get what you pay for, you pay for what you get..."

The building is resin and from the Arnica Montana Line produced in limited quantities by Hawgleg.
The boardwalks are separate and are from the same line.
Fencing, barrels, and baggage on the side, are from Acheson Creations.

Assembly was quick and easy, with a slight modification needed for the roof.

Paints were a primer of black spray from Krylon, and then Apple Barrel Craft Paints of Burnt Umber, Primary Red, Cherry Red, and Cadmium Yellow with a drybrush of Burnt Sienna, and then another of Antique White for weathering.
This can show that you really don't need expensive eye dropper paints to be able to achieve a good effect.

I still need to weather the boardwalks, and do a little interior work, but for the most part this is done.

I'm happy with how it turned out, and it will add a bit of color and flavor to my Western Town.

More to come, so stay tuned!

Thanks for reading!

Just don't come to him and ask him "Where you can find a Chinese girl with green eyes...."   ;)

Bart!

Due to the condition of the molds, they are made right now only on a custom order basis.  If you are interested I can contact Mike and see what can be done.

Murphy,
The old Arnica Montana buildings, later Hawgleg were some of the best resin buildings out there. I wished I had got his Adobe set. If there is a possibility of ordering please contact me.

Thanks

Murphy,

I have several of the town building from Mike but missed out on the Adobe as well.  I'd be interested in some of those as well if Mike would be willing.

I'm not sure if we got the adobe stuff guys as the molds and stuff are in Houston. Let me check with my partner and get an idea of what we have and what we can produce.

Anecdote warning:

In the book about the US Marine sniper in Vietnam, Carlos Hathcock - real name, honest - the subject of the book related how he once told an officer above him, by radio, where he was and read from a map, "Sir, I'm standing on My Long Dong".   lol.

Been over 20 years since I read that book but that bit always stuck with me.  Pretty hilarious.  Hmm, I am building a 10 mm Vietnam collection (have the figures, just need assembly and painting and such) and I will have to use that name somehow, maybe for a local brothel?

"Sir, I'm standing on My Long Dong".

That sounds painful lol
