I will try to build something like the Yen Tu Pagoda . It won#t be a complete look alike more like inspiration. It is a Pagoda on a mountaintop in Vietnam.

Sounds interesting. Plenty of potential to make the surrounding scenery add some great flavour to it as well!

That photo kind of reminds me of the temple in the movie 2012 - where the lonely monk starts to pound the bell/gong (been a while since I watched) as the impossibly giant waves crest the Himalayas. Fun movie but highly improbable - but such is the nature of movie making.

That should be fun and real back and beyond - keen to see flowers, bells, and orange.

Yes, the roof is the challange with this little project. I will do the hilltop and the Pagoda as two pieces. This way I can use the hilltop as a possible firebase for my 105mm howitzers I just got from Rubicon. So at least the hill serves two purposes gaming wise.

Snap - I have a very different project and a very different theme (without mountains), with a removable top for alternative use too :D

Sorry for havig them rotated 90 °. I don't know how that happened. On my computer they are the right way up. I splitt the hill in two parts for better storage. More to come

And the hill with the start of the Pagoda. The peak of the hill is insiude the Pagoda because " Budda once stood on the hilltop" , just to make it plausible to have a Pagoda in such a remote place.

That looks great so far, the hill looks like it has a decent amount of height too, and I like the use of the stones, that will give it a bit of weight, think I need to steal that for my hill.

Pretty neat. I like the Buddha "carved" into the pillar idea.

That is a roof that I would not even dream of attempting. Well impressed with the results.

That roof is a straight up impressive piece of foam construction, looking forward to seeing what it looks like with tiles and details on it!

I echo all the comments on the superb roof structure. I am wondering, as Wirelizard, how you will accomplish the tiling.

I will do the tiling with very thin styrodur slices as well. The slices will be about 1mm thick and used to cut individual tiles from them. I will go for a flat wooden tile effect not the pantile one used in many spanish buildings.

Where did you get such thin xps foam?

I cut the foam with my proxon cutting table into very thin slices, something like 2mm thick , you can almost look through it. I use a cutting device from "shifting lands "( I think thats the name when I remember correctly). It simply is a piece of mdf standing upright as a guide for the foam to get a equal thickness over the complete block of foam. Hope that makes sense..

Yup, that’s a thing of beauty! Trying to work with cork myself at the mo….it isn’t the easiest medium. I particularly like your work with the foam though….that is nice.
