I've stuck a load of my 28mm AWI British elites on the blog. Some of these were painted nearly 20 years ago and some were painted at the end of last year:

They look great, and so do the many others on your blog.

Thanks all! :D

Nicely done! My compliments, Sir!

Nice - and quite a good background on the blog on the units makeup as you painted them. My recollection of the Marines was that they were only used in Boston and more or less disappeared after that. Do you have information for them being around longer and when and where? Always willing to increase/improve my knowledge of the AWI.

Thanks both! :D
Yes, after Boston, the 1st & 2nd Marine Battalions were sent to garrison Halifax, Nova Scotia. However, both the 1st & 2nd Marines' grenadier companies were assigned to 2nd Grenadier Battalion for the Long Island and New York Campaigns. When the army advanced into Pensylvania, the newly-reorganised 2nd Grenadier Battalion still had 'Marines' on the rolls, but it isn't specified if two companies were present. They were still listed in 1777, but I don't have a detailed breakdown of the grenadier battalions after that year.
Aargh! And while looking this up, I've just noticed that the Marine light companies remained in Halifax! :'( The 2nd Light Infantry Battalion was identical to the 2nd Grenadier Battalion but was missing the Marines... Doh! >:(

Uh-oh! There I go earning my nickname of "the spoon" again by stirring things up. :o
Well, having marines in your light infantry post Boston isn't likely to crack open your gaming table and crash everything to the floor so I'd not worry too much. And if your table does crack and drop stuff I take absolutely ZERO responsibility for that: see whoever constructed it for any flaws! lol

lol lol lol lol lol
Yes, thankfully they're not exactly wearing stand-out uniforms that shout "I'm a Marine!", so I'm happy.
Nowadays they'd be obvious, wearing their green lids and little black dresses... lol

Marines or no, the Grenadiers and Light Bobs look great. I especially like the detail, like the different facing colors...

Bugger, I completely forgot to use the expression 'Light Bobs', despite fully intending to...

Meh. If your age is near mine (61), a lapse in memory every now and again is to be expected, tolerated, and forgiven... ;)
