Does this idea sound crazy? After seeing someone using GW SpaceMarines as the Mobile Infantry from Starship Troopers, I got to thinking: What about a pulp-SF, Solar System only setting for WH40K figures? Aeldari for the more civilised Martians, Orks as Martian desert dwellers (well, they're green!) Idoneth Deepkin as underwater dwellers on Venus and/or Neptune, mabe T'au as tchnologically advanced Venusians, like the "Treens" from "Dan Dare", Votaans as asteroid miners?
Any thoughts?

I think it would be a fun setting. It’s a bit like the setting of the old Warzone: Mutant Chronicles, except with fantasy-inspired aliens instead of mega corporations and mutants.

I see nothing wrong with reusing the figures for your own setting. :D

Sounds awesome! The Aeldari are perfect for civilized martians! Will you be using a new ruleset as well?

Darned if Iknow! Maybe something like Rogue Hammer or Planet 28. I'm thinking something like a Leigh Brackett-Dan Dare-Edgar Rice Burroughs mash-up.

I have Tau to use as aliens with my old Grenadier Traveller Imperial Marines and my Copplestone Castings Future Wars figures (which serve as planetary defense forces - i.e. technologically challenged compared to the others). Personally, I can't stand the WH 40K Marines or Orks - but the Tau look right for sci fi.

That's a very good idea! I'm always dreaming of gaming Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles... :P
