The Rif War 1921 to 1926 - Berber Tribesmen. The Berbers had a long tradition of fierce fighting skills, combined with high standards of fieldcraft and marksmanship. They were capably led by Abd el-Krim, who showed both military and political expertise.

This is the start of the project, with another large infantry detachment in the pipeline plus a lot of cavalry and camelry to add. Rifian forces numbered about 12,000 men in total. In addition, the Rifians were not well armed, with weapons badly maintained and in poor condition.

Beautiful troops, Lord Raglan, the figures + terrain on their bases! I look forward with palpable excitement to watching this splendid project of yours proceed!

Those chaps are indeed very nice looking. It'll be interesting to see how well they fight... :D

These boys will be up against the FFL, so a unit dear to my heart.
Jean-Claude Van Damme will obviously make an appearance to win the day for France and Legion 🇫🇷

Another very cool project mate, great minis. 👍

These guys look great, can't wait to see the opposing forces.

Very cool - like to see where this goes.

I love the look of your Rif forces! I've been thinking of starting yet another period and your work is having a very positive influence.

The Chasseurs d'Afrique were a light cavalry corps in the French Armée d'Afrique (Army of Africa). First raised in 1831. On 5 May 1863 the 1st Chasseurs d'Afrique distinguished itself in a clash with Mexican lancers during the Battle of San Pablo del Monte.

Tuareg Warriors. Tuareg territory was organised into confederations, each ruled by a supreme Chief, along with a council of elders from each tribe. These confederations were sometimes called "Drum Groups" after the Amenokal's symbol of authority, a drum.

More new stuff.
Love the Desert Oasis tents.
May I ask, where did you pick them up from?
-
Thanks mate, the tents are 3D printed

Lovely - and timely for me. My FFL project already has most of the Berber foot painted since they came that way. But an equal sized contingent of Touareg foot to paint (technically, more Berbers I guess). And loads of cavalry and camelry to paint.
The oil wells reminded me of an exchange in Blood Diamonds where an African man tells the Solomon character he is glad his country didn't have any discovered oil deposits in it for fear of the damage to come if it did.
The Chasseurs d'Afrique are nicely done, again, mine came mostly painted. Only French mounted units still to paint are the dismounts and 'empty' mules for my mounted company and my Spahis and Goums. My setting is mostly 1880s era and Goums came along later but I like the diversity of appearance they add. And I have an armored car and truck that came with the painted stuff - but they were not finished.
I shall be taking inspiration from your work as I drive on getting ready for an October convention FFL game.
-
Looking good, as usual mate!
-
Ragland,
Of course, you know the Arab allies are perfect to use for the Senussi campaign. Looks like you have a jump on that one already. ;-)
Regards,
Bob

Always trying to work it Bob 👍🏻

Fantastic terrain bits!

Thanks mate, the tents are 3D printed
Everything is splendid..you also did a good research on real costumes of the warriors.
Also, realistic (basic) desert tents are really difficult to find and also quite hard to scratchbuild...OK is a 3 D tent...may you sell me one or two if you are the file owner or, alternativly, point out which manufacture sell the printed model?
tks

More good stuff, m'Lord. Well done!

Nice to see your stuff in action! With a little luck, I will be hosting a FFL game on the 13th and, hopefully, be sharing photos afterwards. Time permitting, I will be painting my tents to match the one furthest right in your photo - not the small round one, though. A lot easier to paint than those bloody striped tents!

Rif Cavalry led by Sheikh Abdul Abulbul. These naughty Ruffians will soon be taking on the FFL in the Sahara desert for a little Sharp Practice action. Sergeant Nocker might even make an appearance.

Both cavalry and the camelry look good.
Is unit size driven by pack contents - three packs of three figures?
-
No mate, it's just how these have been done in batches
