I started glancing through Legends of the High Seas today at my local game shop. I started thinking to myself, I could play out Isabel Allende's Zorro novel if I were to have both LOTOW and LOTHS together... Very exciting (I'm a ridiculous Zorro fanatic), but now here's the question. Are the rules compatible? What about other rules from GW like the Ancient stats, or even Mordheim? Anybody do any mixing and matching?

There are scenarios and stats in one of the LOTOW Add ons for the Alamo for Zorro

We played this game a couple of weeks ago using a basic version of the LOTOW rules... Seemed to work well enough for Zorro ;)

oh I should have made my post a little more clear. Yes, I saw that thread and it is wonderful. But in Isabel Allende's novel, it chronicles Diego's adventures in Europe, and even into the Caribbean, where he battles pirates and the like. As for the question in regards to using Mordheim or other GW stats, that's just for compability curiosity.

You should be able to create what you are after by just using LOTHS as it has lots of stat lines for characters

Since the Legends games use the Lord of the Rings game system (rules and profiles) and only the Mordheim campaign rules, you cannot use Mordheim/Warhammer profiles for them. But it should be easy enough to come up with what you need on your own.

But to anwser yer question, yes. LotHS and LotOW are compatible.
As fer Mordheim... Yes and no... There are somethings that just do not work, but for the most part, I use the stat-line from Mordheim for monsters and some badguys, but have to do add ons for the differences... It works fine for us.

I play both games. They are pretty much the same. LotOW covers Zorro in one of the companion books. But LotHS covers ship to ship & boarding action. The rules are the same for hand to hand & for the earlier fire arms.

Sounds like that could be a load of fun. I've never read that novel, so it would be nice to see what sort of scenario ideas are in there.
It goes without saying that you need to post a big fat battle report stuffed full of pics, once you play the game ;)

Wargames Soldiers and Strategy did an article for using LOTOW to wargame 3 Musketeers, might be worth tracking down the article.
