Title: Xenos Rampant - Sturmgeschutz & Sorcery
Post by: Will Bailie on August 14, 2023, 05:37:39 AM
Ever since I picked up my copy of Xenos Rampant, I have had a desire to play the classic Sturmgeschutz and Sorcery scenario from TSR some time in the 70s.  On Friday, I managed to host a game at my local gaming club!

Very cool.

I was pondering something similar last week - but didn’t really progress it. Would you be able / OK to share the force lists you used?

Hi, Fred, I'll share the lists when I get home.  Basically, Germans were light infantry, orcs were primitive infantry, giants were greater xenomorphs, spiders were lesser xenomorphs, and the sorcerer was a beta-class psychic.

Cheers - what profiles did you use for the vehicles?

Hey, Fred,  for vehicles, I ignored the recommended limits in the rules.  They included a single fighting vehicle (the armoured car, that I foolishly left at home), plus a transport (the half-track) and two soft skins (the staff car and the Opel Blitz).

I couldn't figure out uploading files, so I added the army list to the blog post.

OMG!

I have Dragon Rampant. Does XR pretty much do what DR does or ???

Good luck with those spiders! :D

Both XR and DR use the same mechanisms.  There are differences (XR uses 10 and 5 dice vs 12 and 6 dice for DR, for example), and the 'toolbox' for building units (or beasties) is different in the details.  XR gives more options for vehicles, I suppose, but even then the vehicle rules are not too detailed.

Thanks - it’s good to see what others have used. There are almost too many options with XR to know where to start!

That's the trick, isn't it!  Try not to look at ALL the possibilities, just focus on the bits you actually need  :)
