Ah, yes. Lovely idea. Useful as nice village colour (decoration if you will, like animals in an African game), but they also make quite sinister baddies. Seem to recall Morris Men in an old Doctor Who episode, unless I dreamt it.  Handy if you want to burn Edward Woodward* in a giant wicker effigy too, I would imagine.

*Or Nicolas Cage. He deserves it more...  The Bees! Not the Bees!

Quite right. I am frantically trying to figure out how they can fit with my DoNKCoM, the Totleigh-in-the-Wold Cricket Club Volunteer Grenadiers, Welsh Gypsies, Irish tinkers, the Carnival, the village Constabulary, Spodes Black Shorts fascists, the Anarchist Union of Ladies Undergarments Manufacturing Workers The Monimasket League of Temperance and their deadly enemies The Sword 'n Mermaid Drinking Pals Battalion. The alliances are quite complicated as it is.

The obvious allies would be the Sword and Mermaid, and the Cricket Club (who may or may not be allied with the Fascists); and probably the Constabulary; the Morris Men are perhaps a bit like rural Masons - being 'in' my be very important for village life. On the other hand I could see that they might have allies among either or both of the Tinkers/Gypsies and the Anarchist Undergarment maunfacturers... I see what you mean about the complicated relationships!

I take it the rest of the village are the usual fence sitters. Have the Women's Institute taken a stance yet?  :D

The are warring between themselves because of what Lady Poore-Shot said about our Alice. We'll see which side the surviving faction will ally with. I wonder what will happen if the staff and inmates of St. Beryl of Monimasket Home for the Mentally Unsound are to mix in...

Is that Mrs Tweedie from "Chicken Run" holding the brown handbag next to the bomb-throwing nanarchist ?

You'd think, wouldn't you? I think I have already titled her Miss Greyson, Mistress of the aforementioned Asylum.

Delightful figures, although I have absolutely no idea what they are.

I know exactly what they are and plan on picking up a set at Warfare next weekend.

Am I the only one who think about Jethro Tull when I first saw those figures? :?

I like both the figure's and the painting... I'm thinking of that famous american painting of the 'odd farmer with pitchfork and his wife' (title and artist escapes me). These are the folk he didn't get round to painting.

*hits the buzzer* What is 'American Gothic' by Grant Wood?!

Check out Foundry's Christmas special:

A nice tie-in, sort of, with Woodbine's Morris men.

Those are quite nice. Very characterful. I guess all the talented sculptors haven't left Foundry completely.

Oh dear! I was idly imagining fielding an entire squadron of pantomime horses, and then realised ....I actually want one!

Oh dear...  ::)

I know I should fight this...but the medication wears off after a few days and I still have the cravings.

Erm (feels he should be positive)... at least you don't want to raise a unit of pantomime horses and pit them against the Morris men's hobby horse dragoons.  ;D

But a pantomime without the dame ?

What are they thinking of ?

Got the panto horse at Recon - an ideal addition to my undercover VBCW special operations unit...

 lol

Was good to meet fastolrus (and family) as well - look forward to hearing about your scarborough militia, and seeing you over on GWP as well.
