Title: Ruckus-Designers Notes
Post by: Wilgut Spleens on January 05, 2024, 09:21:29 AM
Ruckus made its first appearance in Wargames Illustrated this month, issue no 422, with a Designers Notes article. I have reproduced it, in part, on my blog

Read the article in the mag and it was really interesting. Looking forward to trying the rules.

Interested to read that last sentence - "the game will be supported by its own range of figures". Can you say more?

Wargames Illustrated ate going to produce some 25 figures to support the game, these will be released in batches after publication of the rules. Initially they will be in the firm of stl's but will shortly be followed by metals. These will be sculpted by the same guy that does the Giant in Miniature range and will be figures designed specifically for Ruckus. It's also planned for there to be terrain pieces, counters and cards

Wow, that's awesome! If it's the same sculptor who did their Lord Callan and John Hawkwood models, then he produces a very nice late medieval figure.

What sort of thing will they be, all unique characters to suit a skirmish game?

yes indeed! I have been lucky enough to have some input so the plan is to have figures to represent the Retinues so initially billmen, bowmen, squires and knights in interesting poses! ie action poses

I hope that we will have some characterful sculpts of a falconer, a master of hounds, a scout, an adolescent soldier yet to prove himself, a veteran with a large girth...

There should be figures representing the two captains of mercenaries that are in the main game too, one Gustav, who carries the "Profane Device", an experimental Hande Gonne, but I don't know in what order any of these will be produced.

I am still a bit shocked by it all to be honest and can't quite believe it...

Thanks chaps! Richard , we are writing a Reivers supplement, something that I hope will provide the frame work for some ECW scenarios!
