Hi
Something for the Brits this time. ;)
Royal Marine Commando armed with prototype assault rifle EM2.
Could even be used for "What If" 1950's scenarios.
These will be available sometime in early January, 9 variants in the set including an interesting heavy weapon.
cheers chaps!

nice brit! its about time!
-
Be good for some cold war secrat agent games or commando raids.
-
Very nice! I like him.
-
Lovely work Mark. Can't wait to get my hands on a set of these :D :D
Keith :?
-
Yes, well done! :-*
Can you do one with Beret, please? :)
-
Yep, like it. I'm in for some of those, :)
-
Like the look of that - will there be a range or is this a "one off"?
Edit - sorry just read the post again properly and see there are 9 variants.
-
Very nice and about time too. But can we have some figures in Denison smocks and berets eith EM-2? Also some with bergan packs?
By 1945 the Denison smock had become preferred dress for special forces and commandos, so it stands to reason that 'continuing war' troops beyond '45 should also have the option of being so dressed.
How do these scale in with other ranges?
-
Nice to see there is interest in this concept and thanks to everyone for the feedback its much appreciated 8)
There will certainly be variants with berets, Deni's and EM-2 after the first bunch is cast and at 28mm they scale in well with other ranges. ;)
Cheers Chaps

Very nice there Mark indeed, lets have some with piats and stens too? A pistol drawn squad leader would be the go too, (allows easier weapon swops for SoTR players too who fancy a Wembley Sabbot in the mix).

Very interested in these as I am working on a Weird World War 3 campaign based loosely on the Hot War RPG.

Toss in a few with some SMELS, SLRs and some bren guns and I am sold, use them for 60s indonesian crises, or other crazyness up to the 82 fulklands

Looking better with every new set you make. Very cool. 8)

Cheers, bit far from me for a small con.
-
Hooray! Great to see things like this turning up.
-
He looks incredible! :o
What ranges are you suggesting they fit with? The 28mm like Artizan, Copplestone or BAM? Or the smaller kind of 28mm like Offensive?
I can't wait to see these done and would love to grab a set if they fit what I have.
-
If mark has done them the same as his other stuff they should fit in with Artizan etc.
Keith

Most excellent 8)

Quick update.
Not sure when I will have these finished (Life's got in the way a bit) but here's another first peek for the LAF forums ;)

Really nice Mark, all I'd say is watch your scale (as we've discussed before), and keep it tight. Bloody lovely though.

Damn!
Just started to paint my Russians. I'll have to buy some Brits now... :D
Excellent stuff.

Any chance of a release date yet? ;)
-
Bloody nice! :-*
-
Those are great figs!
Can't wait to get some.
-
looking foreward to these being released :) any idea when?
-
Digging it Mark. Keep up the sculpting on the British. ;)
-
I'd really like these for SOTR/ Incursion, as the Incursion Commandos are way too expensive for a SOTR platoon.
-
I can not wait for these either. What other lines/figs (other then playwar)has Mark done. I like the style and would be interested in buying more figs. Love the fact they match up with Artizan.
-
Just a quick update. But first I must apologise for the lack of progress on this project. This year has been a tough one. Illness, family issues and work have all got in the way. I cant wait to say bye bye to 2010.
An officer, comms, heavy weapons team and specialist are almost done. I'm very hopeful in January I will be able to complete them. So February is looking good for these to be finally released. Anyway hope you like the two new editions, front and back views with a group shot.
Atb! Mark

I Hope that 2011 is a better year for you!
Like the new figures, what are you planning on arming the heavy weapons and specialist chaps with?
-
Wow! These look exceptional. Best of luck for 2011!!! I can't believe it is going so quickly now...
-
Good stuff, here's to a good 2011 for you and yours.

wonderful stuff!! :o
waiting for release.
-
Sorry to be a bit a pain with the threadomancy but what happened to these lovely figs any news?
-
Anyone tried to pm the original poster?
These look awsome and I would love to have some in my www2 british army.

I'm going to try modifying SA80 rifles from The Assault Group to give a reasonable impression of the EM-2. Hopefully I shouldn't need to do much more than extend the length of the stock forward of the pistol grip and to remove/modify the sight to resemble that on the EM-2.
Guns are on order, so I should be able to try this out very soon.
-
Guys, I no longer own these miniatures and as far as I know they are not available yet. They have been moulded and cast I'm told which is at least a small step forward. Unfortunately I have been unable to contact the chaps who bought them from me.
If I hear more on the subject I will endeavour to let you all know or, if you see/hear anything on this subject please let me know.
All the best!
Mark
-
Thanks for the update i'll keep my fingers crossed and my eyes peeled
-
cool:D hope to see these soon ;)
-
care to mention what company has these?
-
Update on the SA-80 to EM-2 conversion idea. I received my guns from THe Assault Group, but haven't had a chance to do anything with them yet. The conversion looks to be fairly simple. I need to reshape the SA-80 scope sight into the EM-2 carrying handle (should be able to just reshape with a file and just paint it black for the 'hole' in the handle). Other than that maybe a little bit of file work/greenstuff to reshape the front of the stock to look more linhe the EM-2. Simples!
I'm intending to pick up some Warlord plastic commandos to carry these guns, as I should be able to use the basic figures without much conversion (maybe some reworking of left arms). If this works I will make these into a commando force for SoTR, using the British paras force stats (since they almost all get the option to carry assault rifles).
-
be sure to show some pics:D
-
Was wondering if there will be any US in flak jackets with 50's weapons or will i still have to convert Vietnam with WW2 weapons.

That would be pretty cool, could use them for Korea, Dominican republic, cuba, central american wars, and early vietnam, not to forget, 50's Sci-fi, and 50s-60s style post apoc, or maybe shooting protesting students lol

There's an idea for the Prof's range of figures. Kent State University cheerleaders.
I'd dearly love some US troops in flak jackets and M-14s, as would Monsieur 'Arlequin or so I'm lead to believe.

The Assault Group make US infantry with M-14s and also do a pack of separate M-14s in their Vietnam range.
The pack of M-14 infantry without packs would work well with WW2 infantry/marines in tropical uniforms - perfect for fighting WWW2 Japanese?
-
I would really like to see, some guys with WW1 kits, they were still issuing BARs, tompson's, grease guns, M1 Garand and M1 carbine up into the 70s.
-
Maybe we need to ask Warlord Games nicely to produce some plastic US troops - these would be ideal for kitting out with M-14s fro WWW2.

I thought Warlord were already planning some US plastics? I have looked for a link about the same but can't find it.

Hei guys,
small update about the Commandos.
I contacted Mark about the guy who bought the greens and he gave me a name.
After a short search in the net I found him, contacted him and ordered the minis.
Right now, the 4 figs shown on page 3 are available, the rest should follow soon.
For those who are interested, here's the link:
