Bit of an odd question but what is a popular basing method for 15mm colonials. Not after specific rule sets but something general that would suit several.
Regulars, irregulars, artillery and cavalry please :)
30mm square with four figures on?
20mm x 40mm with three figures on?
Etc :)

If you are going for multi-figure basing, I use 1" x 1" bases with 3 figures to a base for natives. For Europeans, I use 3 figures abreast on a 1/2" x 1 1/2" base. Cavalry either 1 1/2' x 1 1/2" for natives or 1" by 1 1/2" for Europeans. Artillery to fit - though best to base the crew separate, I use 4 figures with two to a base, 1/2" x 1".
If you prefer single figure basing, I'd go with round steel bases (they can be purchased in bags of 250 here in the US), 3/4" for foot, 1" for mounted (that is what I am doing with my Very Large Skirmish Three Musketeers).
Hope that helps.

I have my Sudan British, Egyptians, Italians, Dervishes based for Martian Empires ruleset. (Also Russians and Bers)
Reg infantry are 4 to 20mm x 40mm base.
Reg cav are 3 to a 40mm x 40mm base
Arty and command are 40mm x 40mm
Irregulars I have put on a double base 80mm x 40mm. Loads of figures.
My Sikh Wars figures are similar.
Regular infantry 4 figs 40mm by 20mm.
Cavalry 3 figs 40mm x 40mm
Arty 40mm x 40mm
Irregular infantry 4 figs 40mm x 40mm

For games at a lower level such as Maori wars or Space 1889 I use 16mm washers.
Sadly not many good or recent pics of these so will try to fix that.
