Are there plans for anymore figures for Mark Copplestone’s 15mm Barbarica range? My Ice Tribes need leadership…
-
I also would be very eager to spend money on new figures from these ranges. For me, dwarf archers (with bows, not crossbows) are something I would jump at.

I'd like to see some with the lighter Pictish Latch crossbow, as opposed to the more usual heavy medieval style crossbows, and some character figures, preferably with a couple of spear armed characters.
Am I alone in also wanting to see some Scottish Wildcats? Perhaps a little larger than real life so as to match up to the wolves ;D
-
…And Romans?
-
Personally, I'd sooner see more 10mm rather than 15mm, though anything would be better than the current Toy Soldier range which leaves me cold.
I'd love to see his take on The Haradrim for example.

Just in case not everyone knows this: Wiglaf Miniatures (https://wiglafminiatures.wordpress.com/) is also sculpted by Mark Copplestone. Although "historical" Dark Age miniatures there could be an extension possibility ? Although no dwarfs (;-)) at least sóme of them could be a sensible addition.

They are very nice (as you would expect from Mr Copplestone).

I ordered the Ice Tribe from North Star as some opposition to the Wiglaf.

Hi Barbarians, whilst I am not the master Copplestone himself, I do love the range...and will be releasing my own models which should cross over or expand into the Barbarica groundwork (and into various tropes).
Wildlings / Savage Tribes are certainly in the works, at least 50% female models as I feel that was a missed opportunity. Command, Mammoth and Characters are under way.
I will post future factions here too, if people are interested.
Thanks!

Forgot to mention, the 3rd Century Roman will be for historicals, but would be a fun opponent for a barbaric tribe...even if not strictly fantasy.
-
Well, that’s intriguing news. I’ll definitely be taking a close look at those when they’re released!
-
I've been using some of the Barbarica range as early hominids for the Primeval supplement for the Tribal rules. The Picts as homo heidelbergensis and some of the Barbarian range (those without shields or swords) as early homo sapiens.
That first figure would fit nicely into my early humans if I could work out how to disguise the sword on the belt.
Colour me interested in the coming range!
-
I reckon it should work, it's a sort of stylized dagger sheath, similar in size to the Icetribe ones (abit oversized for the scale), just pretend it's a flint or bone dagger :-)
-
Another teaser of the "Barrow Lords" for the forthcoming range...
-
Looking good from the two photos that are showing for me on an iPad i.e. the Roman & the wight. Couple of questions: (1) Who’s the sculptor? (2) Got any comparison shots with Copplestone’s figure?
-
1) I'm the sculptor, Mathias Rapp (Mace Face Miniatures on socials). Doing the 18mm Hawkmoon range for Eureka too..
2) I will get some comparison pictures up this week.
So far the figures are scaled more towards the Ice Tribe, as the original barbarians seem to be his smallest figures (depending on pose & pack possibly).
-
Very good. Thanks & keep up the good work.
-
I like that barrow lord a lot, with the Bronze Age style equipment. It seems like a lot of great figures are in the pipeline!
-
Blimey! These are excellent!!!
-
Brilliant paintjobs! Better than on my 28mm.
-
Terrific miniatures. I’m looking forward to when you have them available. I’m also really looking forward to the Hawkmoon line!
-
Thanks guys! Really good to hear you like the figures shown so far.
I should have some more previews in the next few days.. I may start a new topic which houses all of my stuff though!
If anyone is on instagram, you can see my work at @macefaceminiatures
Re-Hawkmoon: turning in more figures this week ;-)
-
These are brilliant! The undead guy is amazing; I can't think of any 15mm undead figures that are up to this standard, so there might be a big hole to plug in the market.
-
Those look rather smart
-
Thanks guys, should have some more previews next week!
-
Apologies if you have seen this on facebook or instagram, but here is another "Vildir" / Icetribe compatible lady! And a sneaky peak of a beastman...
-
Excellent. Very Copplestonesque. I’m glad somebody's picked up that dropped baton.
Will your Beastmen all be goat-headed or are you aiming for a variety of different types?
-
Please, make them available. Quick!
That’s another ace sculpt.
-
Dang, they look great! Nice and crisp and well-proportioned as befits Copplestone's style.
-
Fantastic friend.
-
Those look very good and definitely in the style of the Maestro himself. Well done 8)
-
I was going to say "for 15mm miniatures those are incredible", but perhaps it is better just to say "those are incredible". The quality of the sculpt on the faces is better than some 28mm models.

Thankyou! Hopefully will have them available in May :-)
For those of you able to get to salute, I will have some freebies there with my mates at Eureka Miniatures.

Oh man that is high praise, I have tried to keep them as compatible as possible, and hope to bridge a few gaps into various fantasy tropes. Nothing can beat a real Copplestone sculpt, so this is just a homage out of love for his models.

Thankyou! His style is so effective at small scales, especially the faces and eyes.
At the moment I'm most nostalgic to the goat-heads, but I'm quite tempted to do other beasties, such as Birdmen, Gnolls or Tigermen (feels like these could all be different cultures though..and not as ramshackle?)
Did you have any in mind?
-
Apologies for the many replies, I'm still learning how to use a forum again...haha been a few years.
Thanks for all the nice comments, it feels good to know people are keen after working on this for some time.
Aim is to release 4-6 armies this year, with first batch coming in May.
So far the proposed ranges I have picked at are:
- Barrow Undead
- Beastmen (not chaos, but mixed looted equipment from other cultures)
- Knights/Rangers (knightswatch vibe)
- Fantasy Norse
- Savage Norse / Wildlings
- Orcs (lotr style)
- Arabic/Haradrim/Conanesque faction?
- Ents / Dark forest
I might start a new thread when I've got nicer images and more castings back from the forges :-)
Did you guys want to do some wishlisting here? I can't promise anything, but happy to see if it fits with the overall themes I had in mind...
Whilst some factions are expanding on the Hyborean idea, others will bring it into lotr fantasy, game of thrones etc.

Not really, I’m just curious.
Am I right to assume that you’ll be creating tribes of beastmen (i.e. ones that look similar) to allow for the use of dollies or conversions to existing models? If so, some of the following might be of interest: dogmen, bullmen, pigmen.
-
Nice figures, but a bit off topic:
15mm Copplestone Barbarica range
A [Commercial] thread of their own might be more suitable.

That sounds awesome!

I particularly like the idea of Rangers, we need more at this scale

Agreed will start own thread soon. Early on in the thread there was chatter about what people wanted from the copplestone range

Indeed! But please not Robin Hood and his merry men, but rather late Roman guys still defending the frontier a century after the empire has collapsed!
-
I like the sound of everything on the list. I’m especially interested in the orcs, barrow wights/ undead, and savage Norse due to them lining up with projects that I have on the go. Oh, and a much sought addition would be dwarf archers with bows…

Oh yes! These are really much missed!
