Here's the self-introducing topic, if you like to introduce yourself, feel free to do it :)
-
In the spirit of the topic, and to avoid being labeled a nefarious spammer, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Joey, aka Deathwing from the Miniatures Page, and I live close to Pete Murray stateside. You'll see more of me later I promise. Current projects are a Californian Bear Flag Empire VSF army, my homebrew modern zombie rules for .45 Adventure, two cons games for Historicon using .45 Adventure and Gloire, my expanding Old West town of Perdition's Wake, various terrain projects, and Pirates. So Hello.

And I'll jump in with the, hopefully, second post.
I'm Zac. I live in Vancouver BC (very far away from Salute and Anfield) where I spend far too much time in front of my computer both reading forums as well as working. I go by pixelgeek on pretty much every forum I am on.
I game in all sorts of genres but currently I am working on a set of Weird WWII rules for 28mm scale minis.
When not working I make occasional posts to my blog (http://minigamer.bitterwise.com/) and I also run a small news site for tabletop gamers (http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/).

Well, I guess I should speak up and say something...
Well my name is Tim Kulinski (go by TJSKI here & on other fourms) & I reside in the Valley of the Sunstroke (Phoenix Arizona). Havn't been here long, was rasied up in So California. Something interesting about me is that I have climbed many famous mountain ranges (Matterhorn, Splash mountain, Space mountain & Big Thunder Mountain) which means I worked for a mouse in Anaheim CA, a little rat hole place called Disneyland.
Anyhow, been a gamer for a long time & my current interests are Pulp, WW2 in 28mm (or is that now 1/56th scale??), WAB, and LotOW. And very soon you will be seeing some of my published work for a Pirate supplement basrd off of LotOW. (hint if you check out WI latest addition you will see the comming soon with the title). So it will be interesting how I will be looked at on this board since some folks have a distaste for the "Company that shall not be Named".
So there is a brief on who I am...

That name holds no fear for me. I'll say it. 'Voldemort'!
Seriously, It doesn't matter who you work for. We won't hold it against you. Good luck with the book.

Considering I have three painted GW armies and another two waiting in the wings I really can't be counted among the haters. Though I find myself drifting more into other genres the older I get.
-
Looking forward to seeing what you've done with LoTOW to make it more applicable to the Pirates Tim. I've played in a couple of the LoTOW campaigns at Warhammer world in Nottingham and really enjoyed them.

Hello, this all sounds fun so I'll introduce myself properly here.
My name is Gav, I live in Bristol, England and I'm currently working on about a dozen gaming projects. I've ended up starting a load more since coming here and getting inspired.
Currently the main project is Weird War II stuff, but on my painting table (which also has the computer helpfully) at the mo I have these projects inspired by my fellow Lead Adventurers:
Modern British Paras by TAG, for a Stargate game, I've got a dozen Jaffa finished already.
Foundry Victorians/Darkest Africa explorers, for some pulp fun, these I've had for ages but thread here has inspired me to remove them from the lead mountain and get them painted up and on the table. Now I have some dinosaurs for them to hunt that is.
Two pigs and a plastic cannon that's been sawed in half, all bits from a charity shop very cheap. They are for my communist weird war pig mortar.
Jacob Marley, from Artizan, he was a freebie with my last order of Thrilling Tales figures.
A couple of villains from Pulp Figures, the invisible man and the creeping skull.
Some Goblins and Uruk-hai for Lord of The Rings, also some spiders from Warhammer Quest, my token GW stuff. :)
One Nazi zombie, from West Wind I was sent as a sample, it's great so I'll order a box of them next time I've got some toy soldiers money.
Last but not least, an SS Vampire and a man with an MG42 from BAM, in need of repairs as I'm a big clumsy git. :(

Hi,
I'm Chris aka NVC (Never Victorious Chris), I play (loose) since 1987, begining with warhammer and epic-space marine. I like historical and fantasy universes from 6mm to 28mm.
For the moment my interests are in the skirmish 28mm LotOW and Plup, and in Russian Cvil War 15mm.
Usually I'm playing 'little' GW games (Man O'War, Space Hulk, Blood Bowl etc)
I'm member of Frère d'Armes team: a french muliti-universe skirmish-level game.
My life projet is one day rolling dice on an other side than 1, and perhaps one day winning a game ... now I can say it: I'm an avatar of Larry Leadhead ;-)

Zac, hope to see those WW2 and Rocket Troops at Enfilade in Olympia, Washington in late May. So I hope you'll be putting on a game or two. If you've been attending that convention, you would have seen me helping with those monster War of Spanish Succession games that Ian Croxall put on in 2004 and 2006.
My name on forums is actually my name. I live in the metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon. I game primarilly in 28mm War of Spanish Succession, 28mm colonials, 28mm pirates, 20mm WW2 land, 15mm SYW, 1:300 scale WW2 air, and 1:2400 scale WW1 & WW2 naval. But I'm relatively new to the miniatures hobby, only got into it about 5 years ago, so about 90% of what I've acquired is unpainted so far. Fortunately I get to game with some guys who've been painting figures and making terrain for the last 30 years.

I've emailed Allan about the event but I need to see what sort of shape my travel budget is in after I pay my taxes :-)
-
My name is Matt, I live in Birmingham in England, I run Elhiem Figures and Lamercraft Figures, currently 20mm WW2 ranges.
I have a range of 20mm Zombies coming out and plan to expand into the gothic horror and Pulp fantasy as well.
Why 20mm? Mainly due to the wealth of cheap terrain that I can lay my hands on including cars and buildings not to mention the model train scenery!

Hi,
I am Ruarigh. I live near Hull in England. I got into gaming through D&D basic set back in the late 70s/early 80s. Can't really remember exactly when but that lead to 1:72 WW2 gaming and then 15mm scifi (Laserburn). Since then my interests have expanded to cover a wide variety of periods and scales. These days my main interests are gaming any period of Scandinavian history in a variety of scales, 15mm Laserburn (still), Urban War and 5150 in 28mm, and Wargods of Aegyptus, as well as pulp. My current goal is to marry up my Wargods campaign with my pulp game so that the former provides the legends for the archaeologists in the latter to discover. It would then be great to extend it into the present and the far future, probably using one of the THW rules sets, but that will have to wait until I have managed to get the 1920s/30s game going properly first.
Cheers,
Ruarigh

I'm Stu,
I am from the currently cold city of Christchurch, New Zealand. I've been wargaming for quite some time now and my current interests are Sudan in 20mm, Back of Beyond and Pulp, both in 28mm. My workbench is buried under a mound of half completed projects but I am making slow headway although the purchase of the 'Aeronef' ruleset has me veering off on (yet) another tangent. My main project at the moment is trying to make a cityboard in 54mm using the building plans from Matakishis site for a gangster game.

*chorus* "Hi Stu!"
-
Hi chaps, long time lurker first time poster. I live in the UK and I'm interested in WWII, alternative WWII, Cthulhu, pulp, pirates and the old west. I'm also interested in movies, books and graphic novels (Hellboy is fantastic). :D

Hello!
Welcome to our happy band, You will be amongst friends here with interests like those :)

Hi all- another long-time visitor (although not a registered member until very recently).
I go by a number of names on a number of forums, but I answer mostly to Immelmann (as per the old Wargames Directory forum), or le Comte du Flandre at TMP, as well as Mainly28s at a few more.
Why Mainly 28s? Well, that's what my main interest in wargaming revolves around- 28mm figures, vehicles and terrain. So much so that I started a comparison/review website at http://mainly28s.com
As for periods I'm interested in? Well, lessee: anything from about 1000AD to about 1250AD (mainly Normans in Italy and the Holy Land, although the odd foray elsewhere is also on the list- places like the new World, for example), and the entire period from the end of WW1 to the end of WW2 with some alternative WW2, Back of Beyond and Pulp thrown in for good measure.
Rules? Anything goes, although the simpler the better as I'm getting to the point where I prefer an enjoyable game to one encumbered by too many tables.
I've also started making a niche for myself in the wargames world- I made the master of the SdKfz 250/Neu for Bolt Action Miniatures and have a few more items in the pipeline. I've also contributed to a few rule sets (BKC, Aetherverse and Battlestandard Ancient Rules, among others).
Current projects? Well, I've also just started construction of a tramp steamer (inspired in part by a thread on this forum), and will be providing a step-by-step as I go on with it.
Anyone wanting to invite me to a game is welcome to do so- I've just moved to near Tunbridge Wells...
Anyway, 'nuff said.
Olaf
-
Welcome Mainly. I'd be happy to share thoughts on steamers with you.
-
Hi.
Another long time lurker and gamer here - and only 25 minutes from Tunbridge Wells!
Really my interest these days is a lot more about painting and collecting the many great figures now available, with only a few games a year, all of the 28mm skirmish variety (although often with several players and using up to 200 figures!)
But my days of wargames battles of the old fashioned WRG, DBA, big rulebooks era are well and truly over - too much like hard work, and too little fun.
My painting is pretty good - not quite Kevin Dallimore, or the more august members of this forum  but I too used to frequent Bill Brewer's Rye Stamp and Hobby shop as a schoolkid back in the 1970's - and I think it's generally acknowledged that he was the man who set the trend for what is now fairly widely accepted as the 'standard' style of figure painting.
If someone can tell me how to upload pics, I'll pop a couple of images of my figures up to show my style.
I have sizeable collections of North West Frontier British and Pathans (Mainly Foundry), most of the Copplestone Future Wars range, 150 Foundry pirates (plus a few others - I've just bought all the Black Scorpion newbies, can't wait to paint them!), Redoubt French & Indian Wars, Elizabethan swashbucklers + border reivers (largely based on the superb Mike Owen sea-dog figures for Foundry, but with a lot of other stuff thrown in), and now am working on Bicorne / Renegade English Civil War collection... I also have all the Copplestone cave people ready to paint. Apart from that, I've been quite good. I got rid of most of my loongstanding lead mountain on eBay a few months ago! Now I'm being more selective
-
Hello Captain Blood, Welcome on board :)
I remember the Bill Brewer days and the Rye Stamp and Hobby shop too! Halcion days
Sorry can't help on the photo front, but others here will be able to instruct you.
-
Hi there!
I have been reading this forum for 2 weeks, and i decided to join  . I'm a 24 years old spanish guy and i'm interested in Cthulhu and alternative WW2, oh, and some pulp action too  .
See ya!
-
Hi Immelman/Mainly 28s.
Welcome aboard !
Some of this crowd are almost as nuts as the old gang, and I suspect some of them are old hands from the forum too.
(Like us - Gary, Glynis & Alasdair)
-
LOL- it seems all the old hands at WD still share the same interests.
Well, guys- I may not be the most regular poster, but I'll happily share my insights on 28mm figures- probably enough to bore some of you to tears.
Captain Blood- which side of TW are you? I'm in Crowborough, SW of TW.
Hammershield- it's YOUR fault that I've started doing a steamer- I followed a link from TMP to your thread here. My first attempt will hopefully begin this weekend- I've just got my plans to size and will hopefully begin assembly soon. My steamer's based on the SS Annaghmore (built 1924) and is 896mm long and 146mm wide. I'll probably make a few changes from the original, but she'll reflect the original reasonably well.
Having just watched four episodes of Tales of the Brass Monkey again, I'm well and truly hooked on my pulps again.
Mainly28s
-
Hammershield- it's YOUR fault
That's what the mass murderer in the other neighbouring block said in court too. I won't be held responsible.
Anyhoo, nice to see such a surge of dedicated leadadventurers.

Hi
Another long time lurker here from New Zealand.
My interests mainly are in 6mm and in the last few years a lot of 28mm figures. The club I go to started play LOTOW in 28mm a couple of years ago and I've got a Bandido posse and a Tong gang posse (I hope to upload some pictures soon). I also enjoy making terrain and building and made a Mexican town some of which I can hopefully use for my Ottoman turks.
My main project at the moment is to finish off my Darkest africa figures (Germans and natives) and terrain for TSATF. I also brought about 200 Chinese (Foundry and Old Glory) for the Boxer rebellion but that is a long term project!
I've also got a number of pirates and I'm waiting for the LOTOW pirate rules to come out.
My 6mm interests include "moderns" (post WW2), Napoleonics and a lot of WW2 and Modern Air gaming. My 6mm site is here but some of the photos are old and need updating http://6mm.wargaming.info
Cheers
Kieran

Greetings!
Wow is this THE forum! I am really starting to get into pulp gaming. I do 28mm Wild West, WW2, Future Wars, Modern Zombie, and Colonial. Expanding out into Ganster, Pulp Super Hero, Wierd WW2, Victorian Sci-Fi, Horror. Also do Necromunda, Warmaster, Mordheim, and French and Indian War. Just relocated to the San Diego area. Anyone know of any gaming groups here? You all provide such inspiration... I just love seeing everyones painting and ideas here! Very much looking forward to getting to know all of you!

-
hello Darkoath, is seems you have a great collection and number of games on our hands. Nice to meet you!
I should have introduced myself here as well last week so here goes...
My name is Todd Broadwater and I live in Maryland between Baltimore and Washington DC. I have been painting on and off since 1988 and have done a good deal of Warhammer Fantasty and 40K but in recent years have moved away from that style to Gothic Horror and now I will be doing Pulp and some pirate themed miniatures. Occasionaly I pick up some of the Horde Circle of Oroboros boxes since I enjoy the sculpts and the werewolf theme so those might pop on here from time to time. And I am a huge fan of any underwater/aquatic themed miniatures.
As far as work and family, I have a wondefully interesting wife and two small girls who always ask me "why are you painting again?
HA.
I spent a few years in the early 1990's painting for the Maryland games workshop stores (catalogs and store display) and then went on to do toy design for the action figure industry. I have since moved into the gaming industry and have just moved from Bethesda to a another studio in Timonium.
In just a week or so, I have spoken with a great many of you and am thankful already for this board and your assistance and feeback!
-
Hi, I'm Christin and I live in the US.
I became interested in gaming when my father started up his civil war collection and began gaming himself about 10yrs ago. . . . he needed someone to help him paint all that lead!
And ooooh so much lead there was- Civil War, Ancients, Napoleonics, Medieval, mostly 28mms.
We have since downsized the collection to focus on WWII and now, at my request, the American Old West :) We use the two hour wargames (http://www.angelfire.com/az3/twohourwargames/index.html) rule set to create our game scenarios and we throw some zombie invasions in for good measure too. . . ancient Indian burial grounds will do that!
I'm interested in developing my painting techniques and I'd like to start making my own terrain and buildings as well.
Nice forums here, so I look forward to chatting with all of you.
Cheers!

Hello All
Lee Sheppard is my name and I live in sunny Western Australia (although I was originally born in Wakefield, Yorkshire). I'm 46 and have been wargaming since I was 12. Started with Airfix soldiers and rules by Charles Grant. Moved away from wargaming for about 20 years as I became heavily involved in RPGs. Almost made a career out of my hobby, but that's a story for another day...
Got back into wargaming about 10 years ago through GW games. Still an active Warhammer player and tournament participant, but am also very interested in all genres listed in this forum. Currently painting up heaps of miniatures from Foundry and Copplestone and making lots of terrain so I can start my own Darkest Africa / Pulp campaign at my local gaming club.
This forum is like Christmas - so much to open and play with. Looking forward to a long stay and many contributions.
Merry pranks and jolly japes

Hello, I am Chris. I am up in the Sunny Pacific Northwest. I have only recently gotten in to the Back of Beyond/Pulp genre. If I ever get a decent camera and learn to take pictures I may post them up here. I personally love to see people’s pictures and battle reports. I have combed through most of the lists for inspiration.
Thanks all and keep up the good work,
-
HI, names EM:=the puppetmaster, a new member from england, ramsgate,my interest are all types off miniatures, pulp gaming and the new game spinespur. well any way hope to have a good natter with you all in the near future, cheers em
-
My name is Frank aka Wargame4fun. I have been wargaming for more years than I care to admit. I live in Pittsburgh PA and am a founding member of the Band of Gamers wargaming group. We are not a club but a bunch of friends who get together to game, paint, and sculpt. If you want to know what we are up to in the 'burgh, check our Yahoo group of the same name.
My favorite periods are many and varied with Ancients, ACW, and WWII the favorites. However, I have been doing a lot of Wild West and Zombie gaming recently. We use the Two Hour Wargame rule sets.
My number 1 daughter found this site and got me to join. She is the big Wild West fanatic that added another period to my habit. She is the painter and has several posts of her buildings.
We will be at Fall In this year gamemastering two Six Gun Sound games on Friday and a Classical Hack on Saturday.
-
wellcome you all I hope you guys have a lot of fun here .
Cheers Grimm
( Hmm I think the US guys overtake the forum :D :) )

Hi I'm Paul. I live in merry olde England. I just got back into wargaming after a break of many years. Used to play Games Workshop mainly (like many people) but have finally discovered the joys of other types of gaming.
At the moment I'm buying a lot of stuff from different manufacturers to see what I like but I'm about ready to launch into my first major project which I think will be Darkest Africa....but then there's pulp as well...and those pirates too....
Anyway, loving the idea of this forum and looking forward to chatting to you all.
-
Africa, Pirates, well, your heart's in the right place, welcome :)
-
Hi
I'm Roger (aka Dodge) ,I live in Darkest Dorset UK, began wargaming in the 80's with D&D then progressed to Warhammer Fanatasy battles, Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader and the subsequent rulesets. Had a break for kids and I'm back!
Got into back of beyond by tripping over an article in WI then buying some figures. Keep looking at Bob Murch's Pulp site and coveting those mini's.
Tripped over this site and thought wow. Two browses and I joined.
I just hope to learn and improve and share experiences.
Other interests are films, books and driving my wife nuts with this obsession I have with gaming.
Cheers
-
Dodge and Dr Jones,
You are most welcome here :)
-
Hello all
Mousy sent me here a while back, and have been lurking for a long time now.
My interests, well what can you say, anything smaller than 40mm realy. I get a lot of enjoyment out of any 28mm skirmish games but do have a number of large 28 & 15 & 10 mm armies.
A few of you guys will know me from Steve Deans forum but as long as the rest of you dont listen to them I should be alright.
anyway back to work now, will try and get some pics posted later
Tim

welcome, Tim :)

Hello everyone! Very Happy to be here. :D
My name is Eric, and I am a 40 year old wargamer/rpg:er from Sweden, who fought my first battle in 1973 with the old Airfix WWII figures.
I've mostly played with 15 mm DBA, ACW, Napoleonics. Later on FOW.
Last year I started painting 25/28 mm figs for skirmish games in FIW and Napoleonics.
This summer I've finally gone completely round the bend :o
and have started Darkest Africa (still have the issues of Wargames Illustrated where they first appeared), Pirates, AWI and WWII in 28mm. The last one inspired by Matakishi and his wonderful Teahouse.
My first completed and based unit is in the Lead Painters League competition. As I complete units they will appear in coming rounds. I consider myself a newbie to serious painting and I still get that happy feeling when I accomplish something that I thought I'd never be able to do.
Looking at pictures of minis painted by all you great painters out there are
a great inspiration to me. 8)
Oh by the way, I have over 200 books on uniforms and weapons from the Stone Age to the Vietnam war, so if I can be of any assistance just ask and I'll try to find the info.
Cheers
Eric

Hell, 200 books on uniforms?!? :o envy...:) welcome, Eric!

I am an archeologist and now I am doing a master in war studies in london and I am a wargamer from aged (almost 20 years). Large collection of board and miniatures games from ancients to near future. At the moment I am dwelling in WW1 (mainly palestine, I love the light horse, but I am also tempted by belleau wood), Boxer rebellion (my gradn-grand father was with the east asian cruiser squadron of the italian royal navy) and interwar china, plus I have an ever increasing interest and collection of WWII miniatrues, for eastern western and pacific theater and I am tempted by Africa...

Welcome to London :)
Are you studying at Kings College in The Strand?
I took a unit in War Studies at Kings as part of my history degree back in the early 1980s. I studied under Professor Brian Bond, who was quite a famous military historian at the time. Used to lecture at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and so on... I wonder if he's still around!
Anyway, if you want to come out to the south of London for a game some time, let me know!
Hope you will get to go to some great wargames shows while you are here. SELWG is pretty good. It's on at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in a couple of weeks time. And of course Salute in April. If you are still in London then, you shouldn't miss that!
-
king's college.... <looks at his stuend ID and read King's College London!> yes I am at KCL. Classes atr the strand residence at hampstead... I had programmed a raid to SELWG.. but alas it has been cancelled... trying to find a way to get to warfare... ands of course salute when the time will come :)
btw Captain Blood you are a member of the Warlords?

Greetings,
I'm Patrick Clapham. Curently I'm a student dwelling in the blasted and forbidden vally of New England (aka the Pioneer Valley). I'm an old hand at Call of Cthulhu and other Pulpy roleplaying games.
Inbetween my classes and work I'm painting a mix of Copplestone and Artisan Pulp figures for a Hollow Earth Expedition game, as well as the ocasional Mythos Beastie.
I've just recently discovered the joy of using Simple Green to strip my painted figures, so some of my older pieces from my 10+ years of painting are getting a facelift.

Nope. Never quite got to join...

Sabes, el cardinal Murrey es un ladrón de mierda.
I am not sure what that last part means but I am told it is supposed to mean "Welcome!"

Thanks to all.
Hammershield, the translation of "Sabes, el cardinal Murrey es un ladrón de mierda" is "You know, cardinal Murray is a bastard thief"

Doh! I only found this thread now after I've already been posting a bit...
Hi, I'm Greg and I'm addicted to miniatures... :D
I'm from the US, but I'm currently living in Buenos Aires. I've been painting and playing with miniatures for about 15 or 16 years now (I'm 34), but all of my stuff is back up north and all I can do for now is drool over other people's figures and wait until I can get back to my toys in about 5 or 6 months.
Next summer I'm planning on making the move over to Germany. If I do I'll be sure to have my paint and a few figs shipped over after I get settled in somewhere.

Welcome, Greg!
Germany seems the place to be for Pulp Adventure gamers this decade.

Should read all topics more often

Hi everyone,
My name is Torradas and I´m a Lead-a-holic :)
Been lurking for quite some time on the forum and a recent surge in my interest in all things pulpy made me join.
I´m primarily a gamer, been one for 15 years, and I like pretty much every setting. Been missing out on pulp though, which is soon to be corrected :)
Glad to be here,
Torradas

Wow! How is that Apostle Grimm didn't include this fantastic word in the Cult of Lead yet??
Welcome!

And after scanning the boards for a topic where I can introduce myself, giving up, and posting a new topic, I find this thread. Ah well, should've had my second coffee  of the day earlier. Hope my long-winded intro elsewhere won't get me branded as Vanvlak the Ego. :(
Anyways - umm - it seems I'm here. Looks like a nice place too. I appear to currently have the status of Lurker, and I'm from Malta. And I've got a terribly short attention span, which means dozens of unfinished projects.
Cheers all.

Hi everyone,
I'm a long time lurker, but I've finally decided to sign up.
My name is Knut and I live in Elmshorn, Germany (you probably haven't heard about it, but ist somewhere near Hamburg).
I'm mostly a Sci-Fi guy, but pulp has been growing on me recently.
Otherwise, I'll play everything that sounds like fun.
cheers
Knut

I'm new here, but have lurked a little. You can find me on a lot of other mini forums. I'm in the US. I've always loved pulp and am happy to see the large numbers of new figs out there that capture the style of the era so well. Lots of inspiration on these boards.

Hi Stephen, welcome on board :) We are neighbours, I am just along the Thames in Teddington :)

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself.
My name is Patrick, and I stumbled across this forum recently. I used to be a gamer (Warzone - aah, those were the days...), but nowadays I'm rather into converting/modelling 28mm stuff for just for my own pleasure. So my interests were leaning towards WWI and retro-science fiction (again Warzone, apparently...) though I'm interested in that Weird War II stuff as well. Some topics here are simply inspiring.
-
Welcome, Trencher! I think you'll like the WWI-WWII threads.
-
Hello, just wanted to introduce myself here a bit.
My name is Dimitri and I live in The Netherlands with my girlfriend who was generous enough to allow a spare room of our house for my number 2 passion.....wargaming
Playing wargames for over 12 years now and still going strong, started with whfb ( like most people) after several years enjoying whfb I got a little upset about the magic system being overpowered, I tried to find a new good game and found Star wars miniature battles/ warmaster/ mordheim/ warmachine/ confrontation/ blitzkrieg commander/ flames of war/ and finally found my way to modern day wargaming with zombies ( hmm I've seen a lot of movies in this genre but never thought about gaming it until recently)
Hope to find good ideas and have a nice time here
Oni

My name is Brian Cottrell and I live in Texas in the good old US of A. I've been wargaming for ever and also run a alternative WWII site called Battleground Weird War II. I am an avid comic book collector, wargamer, student of history, husband and Dad. Hope to add to the topic and further my love for the gaming hobby
-
oh, there was a thread for introductions :)
Col.Stone here
I'm from Sweden and i've been wargaming for about 14 years
Scifi, fantasy, moderns and a few halfhearted attempts at getting started with ancients, i'll try almost anything as long as it's 28mm :)
Mostly i just buy models and stare at them while they mock me with their shiney metal color tho

Hey! My name is Sky, I'm from Pittsburgh, work full time, go to school, 34 years old, I have a wife and three cats, etc...
I finally registered on this forum after lurking a while. It was brought to my attention by the inestimable Scott Pyle who highly recommended it. I'm glad I finally registered and now I'm going to see if I can figure out how to put some pics up. This place has so much great eye candy. I want to contribute!

Greetings!
Mostly I am posting to declare that I am not a spammer. :)
I'm just getting back to my painting habit after an 18 month hiatus, and so recently came upon this forum. Simply awesome!
As for gaming interests, I play a lot of Richard Borg's "Commands and Colors" games like Memoir '44, Battlecry, C&C:Ancients, and Battle Lore. I'm lucky enough to live near Richard and get to playtest his games. We play these games in 28mm (Memoir is played in 20mm) on a 6'x4' board.
I'm also the DM of an active AD&D (1st edition!) campaign; 8 players, 2 games a month, running over 2 years now; hence the painting hiatus.
Cheers,
GW-

Hi to all!
I found this forum very interesting!
I used to war game and role play years ago but since moving several times in short succession and becoming a Dad I've dropped out of it.
I find the "Pulp" genre very interesting starting from the the old black and white Tarzan, Flash Gorden serials. Through to more "modern" films such as Indiana Jones trilogy, the Rocketeer etc.
Any how I've been inspired by many of the figures painted so I'll give it a whirl.
Any groups in the South Hampshire area? Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth?
-
Hello everybody!
At first I want to congratulate you all for this fantastic forum.
My name is Patrick and I'm from Germany, unfortunately I don't have any wargaming experience only some modeling skill earned trough the years
But while reading lots of threads here, some themes caught my attention, the pulp topic with the .45 Adventure rules but to get started with gameing fast I want to do a kind of future wars (ruined city terrain  some rebels or civil militia faceing soldiers)
I think that will keep me busy for a while.
Patrick

Hi, My name is Andy and I'm from sunny Yorkshire (joke). Like most people this post is to stop me from being thought of as a hated spammer.
I've been collecting and painting figeures since the middle 70s. I've had a go at most periods, but I seem to be unable to settle. Still hoping I will one day.
Cheers, Andy :?

Howdy all,
My name is Uncle Mike and I live in Canada. The cowboy-filled streets of Calgary Alberta are my nerdy stompin' grounds. Aside from having a real job and running a small business I work one day a week at a local gaming store running a painting demo. for whoever shows up and have been gaming ever since I was a wee geekee. I've gone off all other games and now only play with little metal (somtimes plastic...) men. I also produce and sell a small line of resin scenery for fantasy and sci-fi 25mil games as well.
But, it is my new project that brings me here. I have just finished the basic rules set for a 1920's investagative horror skirmish game. Basically 3-10 models a side, good guys vs. lovcraftian beasties. Games run about 20 minuites to an hour and a half and are played on a 2x3 board. Loads of fun and easy to learn!
...but enough of the sales pitch, that game should be out in 6-10 months. Until then I will be gracing this forum with some pix and my usual rapier wit.
Ia! Ia!
Mike

Hi all,
Just posting to prove I'm not a spammer.
I'm from Northern Ireland, living just outside Belfast, I've been playing mini gaming for nearly 20 years (damn I feel old) mostly Games Workshop stuff but lately I've been getting into other games, current faves are Legends of the Old West and Song of Blades & Heroes.
Cheers

Here's the self-introducing topic, if you like to introduce yourself, feel free to do it :)
In the spirit of the forum, I'd like to introduce myself ..
This is the first time I post a message on the Board, so I am not quite sure of what I am doing right now ... which makes it more exiting !
I came across tin soldiers thanks to my father who loved them. He loved also strategy games and would have liked me to be a boy  ... not a girl.
He loved Napoleon and the French revolution ... We spent most of our times together to recreate the Waterloo battle field on the kitchen table .. occasionally there were also some tanks
So, I guess, many decades passed, when I came across wargames, warhammer minis, it was love at first sight ... started painting and never stopped since.
Will be in touch.
-
Ups, I was not aware of this topic...
My name is Fernando, from Mallorca, Spain.
I started to game with GW miniatures 18 years ago, more or less, but soon my friends and me turned to the historical minis, mainly 15mm.
But one or two years ago, I fell in love with the pulp games, and started my own collection. This forum inspires me and helped to convince me that I could try to improve my games. The bad news is that I always find new ideas to improve them, viewing the people's work in this forum, with new miniatures and scenery that make them like never-ending superproductions
-

Welcome, rosella! Your post makes me wonder what I would have done if I had had a baby girl and not a boy. I am sure most parents nurture hopes that their hobbes will be something they could share with their kids. While war may have historically been predominantly if not exclusively male endevor, I see war and adventure gaming associated with drama than war. It should be possible to put enough spin on games to make them interesting to any gender.
-
Well, I've been around for a week or two and just discovered this tread.
I've been into fantasy models since about 1982 when I stumbled over a book called "Dicing with Dragons" (actually more an introduction into role-playing). Anyway, there was a chapter about lead miniatures and I've been an addictever since - with the occasional year off listening to the Doors and trying not to be part of this world. :D
My problem: I like everything and I like it too much. Yes, I do enjoy GW - they were one of the companies that good me hooked in the first place. Epic, Fantasy, 40k, Western... you name it.
Then something wonderful happened: A quiet evening at Björn's place with one of Grimm's cool .45 adventure movies. It was love at first sight.
Ever since I've been collecting and painting pulp miniatures and anything that could be used for pulp. So this is a quite inspiring forum for me and I hope to be able to contribute to it in the future.
Lars

Hi Lars!
Happy to meet You here! :D
-
... I see war and adventure gaming associated with drama than war. It should be possible to put enough spin on games to make them interesting to any gender.
Hello Hammershield ... My father was Italian and was of the generation which survived WWII .. War to him was real. He never saw war as drama or a game. I guess that he wanted to share with me something that it was important to him and then .. stopping short of entering into details (I was too young). For a man of that generation, it was not an attempt of gender discrimination and I did not take it as such ...
Today my son plays with Warhammer and other computer related Wargames -- the addiction continues down the blood line
-
Hi Lars !
Hi Rosella and all other new members !
-
Ah well, hello to you all. I tried to register last year (!) but for some reason that didn't work so I tried again.

After lurking on the board for some time, I finally decided to become "official." My name is Steve Wilson, and I live in Lexington, KY, in the USA. I have been involved in gaming and painting minis for nearly thirty years now, ever since a boy living on my block told me about "This cool shop that has little metal elves and dwarves." I eventually became a co-owner of that shop, which has since passed on to other owners.
I played RPGs (but never D&D), and my first tabletop gaming was ACW. I've done a lot of different things, over time, including "giving up" the hobby at LEAST three or four times
Currently I am much more interested in painting than gaming, although I have to tell you LAF reignited a spark of interest in actually pushing the little lead men around on a table again. Right now my biggest interests are Darkest Africa and Wild West. I also think a campaign based loosely on the condottieri period of Italian history could be fun.
I am likely to be much more a lurker than a serious contributor here, but I'm sure I'll chime in occasionally to "oooh" and "ahhh" over some of the really beautiful work you folks are posting!
-
Welcome Steve and all the new Adventurers :)
-
welcome, guys! Steve, especially happy to see another hooked-on-Africa one, cant wait to see some pics of your colonial forces :-)
-
Hi all, my name is Rodney (I'm always DFlynSqrl, "the flying squirrel", on any forum I'm a member) and I live is Fort Worth, Texas. This forum kept coming up on searches I was doing online so I figured this was the place to be! I was a long time RPG'er before making the shift to mini's gaming 5-6 years ago. Something about seeing all the mini's and terrain on a table was just to irresistible.
Current Projects:
28mm American Wild West (just finished up about 18 cowboys this week)... now to make a town.
28mm Modern Zombies
20mm Vietnam
Future Plans:
28mm Pulp & Horror
xxmm Texas War of Independence (haven't decided scale yet)
15mm Crusades
15mm Napoleonic (Peninsular War)
28mm Alternate WWII
xxmm British/Zulu Campaign
Games currently playing: (it's actually nice to have completed armies...)
Rezolution DT (Cyberpunk skirmish)
Warhammer Fantasy Battles
DBA
WWII
Too many interests and too little time! :(

Hello everyone. Another new person here at least as far as joining. I have been reading and minig the board for a while for scenario ideas and so forth. I want to say that you all have the best links I have seen in awhile and I really appreciate all the things i have added to my collection.
As for me, my real name is Pat, Maraudar is a nickname from my very misspent youth. I have been gaming since 81 but in all honesty never used minis before. I really wasnt interested. Now that I am older I see the fun I was missing so I decided to fix it.
I look forward to reading everyones posts and hopefully throwing a few out myself.

Hellow guys, this is Matthew from Germany.
I am engaged in tabletops for more than 5 years now, but I am still pretty stuck in WHFB. Nonetheless I am more and more interested in everything that's a bit aside mainstream. There are so many fascinating tabletops out there, and so many people don't even care about them.
I might start to work on some Old West guys soon (already bought some Black Scorpion miniatures), but I am really not sure yet. I'm also very fascinated by that whole Africa thing.
However. Now I am here an I'm going to keep reading.
(To much information all at once ;))

Hello All in Lead Land
I've been looking at the forums for a short while now. Just purchased Song of Blades and Heroes and setting up a dungeon game.
Next game on the list is a modern zombie slaughterfest.
Cheers
Darren, Melbourne, Australia.

Hello All,
My name is Scott from Michigan, USA. I'm a former rpg guy who tried to get into minis wargaming. Most of my gaming time seems to be spent learning to sculpt though. I haven't even been painting...
I collect 28mm: WW2, Star Wars, sci-fi, pirates, a few French & I things, and looking to get a start in pulp.
-
Hi, well, introducing myself I guess, I'm Andrew, a Brit living in Madrid, recently got back into the miniatures hobby initially via Heroclix, currently working on a Victorian fantasy setting involving characters from every 19th. century novel I've read or even heard of :) . Enjoy painting but do it really badly.
-
If you are looking for some kick ass zombies be sure to check out headzombies line at Zombie Smith. Great stuff!
He's also the mad mind behind the new Quar.
Brian
-
Well why not
De Dwarf really is old-been war gaming since the late 50's
(comercial games that is-throw in home brew & you can
push it back to the mid-50's).
In the mid 90's my group got tired of hex & counters &
decided to have a go at Table Top fig.games.Mostly GW
Specialist Games & the LoTR.
We branched out into HoTT using 10mm & 6mm figs
for our Hyborian world Campaigns. We also started some
Weird WWI-II action with Tannhauser but incorported
Axis & Allies & the DooM Board Game.
Recently we had a yen to get back into historicals using figs
& are working on the Napoleonic & ACW periods.
So its a hobby!

Oh the shame of being deleted as a spam bot, here's to avoiding that fate again!
Hi all, I was told about this forum by Darren upon mentioning a growing desire to dabble in Weird War/Alternative History type affairs. I was pleased to see the forum offered lots to keep me curious, so much so that I never got round to making a post and was thus quite rightly zapped. Anyhow, I look forward to the inevitable temptation to buy new miniatures this forum is sure to give me. :)

Guess I should introduce myself!
I've been gaming for twelve or more years, but just gotten into Pulp 28mm in the last couple of weeks - Bob Murch of Pulp Figures put on a spectacular convention game that convinced me I really needed to start a new scale & genre!
Lots of 15mm before this, both fantasy and SF, this pulp stuff is as close as I've ever gotten to historicals, I guess.
I've got a wargaming website at http://www.warbard.ca/ but it's getting a bit old and out of date, while also being too damn big to update easily... Meh. I'm going to have to start a Pulp section there, though!
I'm also designing some card models for 28mm stuff - I've always really enjoyed designing and building card models, but in 15mm that's fiddly, fiddly work - 28mm is so easy by comparision!
-
Welcome. 8)
-
Welcome, all!
-
Yes, welcome all to the best forum I ever been.
They're only mad people here, but it's a great good madness
-
OK now that I've made more than 10 posts, I think this is a nice place to stay with lot's of people who do the same weird things like me 8) .
I'm a very passionate wargamer, liking to try out new games just for some rules component or cool minis. I also like collecting minis just for the sake of it. Searching for some scenery for rolplaying games I bought some 1/48 planes and ended up with collecting US military of all era in that scale now.
Unfortunatly I'm the only one with that mindset in let's guess... at least a 100 KM radius, so I'm usually considered a harmless looney by the wargamers in my home town.
My main interests in roleplaying are Sword and Sorcery and Cyberpunk, on which I also focus my wargaming, but recently I bought the LotOW rules and could convince some gamers around here to give it a try. I also like Pulp adventures, CoC and alternate realities with hidden mysteries (like WOD and the Night Watch tetralogy).
I usually dislike alternate timelines like steampunk or Gear Krieg and WW II wargames and the "Same War different Time" settings (like WH40K and AT43).
The only mini games I actively play at the moment are Infinity and LotOW, but I keep buying "useless" minis from WestWind, Copplestone and Hasslefree. I also tend to end up buying almost every elf sculpted by Werner Klocke or equine by Sandra Garrity.
-
Hi all,
Just a quick first post to introduce myself and avoid the embarrassment of being deleted as a spambot.
I'm a long time wargamer returning to the hobby after a few years off (been playing eve-online MMOG)
Have always been interested in Darkest Africa and VSF and this forum has given me the incentive to get back at it.
Currently painting up my first few units of 28mm figs and vehicles - I'll post some piccies once they're done.

Bonjour all,
I've been lurking for a while, so I suppose it's time I joined up. I'm more or less a newcomer to miniature wargaming (for the moment I've only played WWI skirmishing in 20mm) so I hope I won't bore you with any newbie-related questions I might ask.

Hi Ian,
ask anything you want and you're sure to get a load of replies!
I'm sure Plynkes, for example, will be delighted to chat about WW1 gaming....
You won't find a friendlier or more knowledgeable group :)

Hi All,
I've dabbled with miniatures for several years, mainly Warhammer, but have recently become interested in skirmish games. My son particularly likes those types of games, especially any with big guns (what can I say; he is 15). Any ideas for modern gothic (i.e. vampires, werewolves, etc) games?
TIA

Welcome Tracy, There are quite a few games out there for horror, the best thing to do is have a look through this Horror forum it has lots of nice ideas and a lot of us LAF member are on there.
Occult Wars is the best for generating skirmishes and covering all manner of horror games. Anyway have a look here
