Title: Borderlands
Post by: GregX999 on December 06, 2009, 01:30:21 PM
Have many people seen the new PC/XBox game "Borderlands"?

It looks like it could be a good source of inspiration... I've been scouring google images for screen-shots to use as reference material. :)

Don't watch these vids in this window, they're too small - click them twice to open the larger version on Youtube!

I bought into the hype and pre-ordered it, 4 days after release I was completely bored with it.  It may have 8294820984092348 guns but 90% of them are garbage.  The game play is VERY repetitive.  It's a 1st person space cowboy treasure grab without any real sort of interesting story.  Not worth the current price imo especially if you want it just for terrain inspiration.

Fenris Games are already producing a number of interesting bits of scenery that you might like on the subject, plus I think this is stronger as a multiplay than single player.

Horses for courses after all.

I've heard mixed reviews about the gameplay as well. I probably won't buy it. But as for terrain I think there are some great ideas there!

Vyper,
I went to www.fenrisgames.com, but there was not much there at all. I checked out their ebay listings as well - they have a lot of nice bases, but not much terrain. Did I miss something? Maybe you meant a different Fenris Games?

I absolutely love it, been playing with Woody and Mongrel fomr Frothers and Vyper is right playing as a team is much better than solo. A nice take on Post Aopoc games too

No, I mean my mate Ian and his latest work (lockers, crates and first aid cabinets) which will be on the website shortly.

The little dune-buggies are very cool and would be a fun challenge to model.
