Well this has been a work in progress for a good 9 months or so.
Saw the great Edoras templates and project in Terrain Modelling and thought I'd give it a go, but on a smaller scale and decided on a watchtower for inclusion in a small settlement or fortified farmstead.
So armed with the template, balsa, moulded wood pieces from a model ship suppliers, cocktail sticks and teddybear fur I set to work.
(Lacking WIP pics as these were on my old phone that died! :().
Each of the four supports was cut from the templates and cut from balsa wood allowing for that great horse relief carving work at the top of each.
As I said I modified it a little and for a while it sat partially complete, with no roof or roof supports, an open top tower. One of the horse head carvings was damaged and so this had to be recut and replaced.
*edit* Found a few pics on my camera! :D

Then came the christmas push and back on the worknbench!:

The joists were added and the roof was made using sheet balsa with teddy bear fur stuck to the roof, wetted and matted down with pva glue and scenics spray glue.

Now undercoated and awaiting final paint, basing and detailing.

Looks jolly good Commander.
You'll have to finish it now you've outed it! :)
Then the rest of Edoras. ;)

I like it. Only not sure if elves would build a thatch roof, don't really fit to their buildings aesthetic. Anyway, it looks good :)

It's from Rohan, Prof. They're not Elves, they're men.
I like the style, though the legs look a bit thin and wobbly.

It sure looks great. Thanks for the pics.

Very nice indeed. I'm going to start work on a three-storey watchtower for my fantasy project soon, so thanks for the inspiration!

Great work! I look forward to seeing it finished.

can't wait to see it finished

Excellent start, Commander. Can't wait to see it finished and put into a nice action pic!

What he said :)
Regarding the legs, I don't think they'd work for an historical representation but for fantasy they're great so I'd be inclined to leave them as they are. Whatever you do though, they're sure to look good. ;)
