Very cool. As I peruse the images my wandering minds ponders the strangness of naming a great klunky heap of sheet metal which makes 8 mph on an even road 'Whippet'.

Because that's twice as fast as the previous tanks could go.  By comparison it was a thoroughbred racehorse. :)

Let's face it, compared to anything not preceeded by a man walking and waving a red flag, these guys were speed demons. The infantry would of course have to jog to keep up with them, not an easy task with a fag or a pipe in the corner of your mouth.

A trifle... facing 600 rpm is nothing compared to risking losing a billiard and half ounce of rough shag.
