I am thinking of getting some first corps ACW figures how do they compare with perrys metals and foundry figures.

Very nice figures given their age, I think they were released some twenty years ago :o
They will probably fit in size wise alongside the Perry and Foundry ranges. teh quality of the sculpting will not match that of the above.
Another one to consider is the Redoubt range, very comprehensive and deligthful figures, but not to everybodies taste.

Not sure about First Corps beyond whats already been said but I have a bunch of the Redoubt ones and in my opinion it's one of their best ranges. Nice figures with lots of character and lots of extras you can't get from other ranges, definately worth looking into if you haven't already.

I have tons of ACW and I would rate the ranges in the following order:
1. Foundry and Perry (same designers)
2. Redoubt
3. Crusader
4. Old Glory
5. First Corps
6. Dixon

I'd say if you are getting the 1st Corps at a very good price, then fair enough. Otherwise go for the Perry or Redoubts. My two favourites and unless each millimetre is particularly important they are fairly compatible. I've a few old Foundrys mixed in with my Redoubt units and they are very hard to spot. The Perry figures are extremely good value though, considering their quality and any re-inforcements I buy will be theirs.
I've never been particularly keen on the Dixon either :?

Regarding Dixon you have to be picky. Generally they are a bit crude but there are some gems, ie the snipers with telescopic sights, charging sergeant with revolver and a bunch of others
