With Askari`s Russians in Summer dress and Outpost`s new Russians they cannot as yet find the 28mm Turcomen they so desp want to engage in battle!....I hope that we may see some soon..?, I am not a fan of conversions and as yet I can only cobble together a few natives from an assorted range of figures.

Didn't many of the Turcomen use ancient chainmail and other antiquidated stuff? Maybe not enough of them were in full ancient dress, but some did, as I recall.
So, you may find some proxies to at least bolster your force.
In the old ESCI, new Italeri 1/72 plastic "Muslems" set, there is a figure, with some chainmail and such, that is argued to be a Turcoman or even a Crusades era warrior. So you could get by with a bit of fudging.

This is a bit of a ass backwards advice, but stay away from the Tiger miniature Turcomen. They are abominable.

They can't be too bad to remove from the base and pass as casulties. Or can they? :)

Yes. Turcomen in Afghan service. Check under NWF if you feel you absolutely need to. :)

It's an Afghan regular wearing a Turkmen hat.

Foundry produce Turkomens in their Afghan range. The mounted ones are very nice and suitably irregular, in that they are wearing native dress. Alas the foot versions are all in Afghan regular uniform and IIRC are now mixed in with other types in the packs ( beehive hats, pagris etc).
