For an upcoming project, The Mysterious Librarian and his Book Golem, ready to defend the world from the Unspeakable Horrors of the Abyss...
Book Golem from Black Cat Bases, Investigator from Rafm.
-
Ahahaha, what a wonderful concept, great paint job too, I love it.
:)
-
:o
lol lol lol lol
I love it! :-*
-
lol Nice!
-
Excellent!
-
Some spiffy looking paint jobs there, but that doesn't surprise me at this point. Always great to see some new stuff from your brush and as always thanks for sharing. As soon as i saw the book golem I had a similar idea, the guardian/defender of of a mage/librarian type who guards the secret library of lost and forbidden knowledge.
-
Great look work!! Master :o :o :o
-
Excellent idea and the figures look superb! Really match each other well.
-
The book golem is great! So is the Not-Corso chap.
-
Very nice. You will have to read Our Lady of Darkness by Fritz Leiber for a nasty book golem.
-
I'm not finding that Investigator at the RAFM site. Any help?

I had just found it there when the notification of this post arrived in my inbox! Thanks for the help!

The Librarian is gathering allies:

Wonderful stuff. Love it!
-
Very icky...just as planned I assume?
:)
-
Wicked
-
My gosh! I think I just failed a sanity check looking at your Pics! lol
-
Wonderful stuff! I've always thought that RAFM stuff could sometimes look a little "spindly", but that Corso (or not-Corso) model is excellent, and the painting is superb! Great shading on the pants. Really fantastic.
Oh, and the tentacled horrors are all that tentacled horrors should be! Brilliant!

More servants of the Unclean Ones:

From Troll Forged miniatures ( http://trollforged.com/index.html ), fun to paint and large too :)

Slightly bigger pic here:

-
Ooooh... Creepy. ;D How odd these miniatures. Great work tho.
-
A further round up of new horrors.
Some from Pardulon:
These are on 50mm bases.

Some summoning stones to act as start points for the critters.

And some from Hasslefree, red mawes on 60mm bases:

I like that thread, some very unusual and nicely painted minis!
-
There is some excellent stuff on show here :o ...
...have you bought any of the mini Mawes to go with their larger brethren? I think they'd fit in a treat.
-
Great stuff here. What game system will you be using? I didn't notice any mention of the game system on your blog.
Rob
-
I wasn't too taken with the mini mawes but I might end up with some eventually. I'll be using a variation of Crossfire for this, I'll be posting the rules changes on my site at some point.
-
Really good stuff Paul!
I'm especially taken by the troll forged lot. You've painting miniatures that I'd sworn didn't stand a chance at looking anything and made them rather nice! :o
So what's this game all about? There are no guns and they're based in all kinds of ways! o_o lol
-
There will be plenty of guns :) and acid spitting, psychic attacks, eye beams, death rays, shooting spines or barbs and what ever else I can come up with.
Some creatures (the biggest ones) will kill just by looking at things :D
But, fear not, the forces of good (us) have our heroes too...
It's going to be mad, but fun!!
-
So what's this game all about? There are no guns and they're based in all kinds of ways! o_o lol
Yeah the basing looks a little crazy to me too.
Rob
-
Cool! Want to see some more!
-
Working on some giant maggots at the moment :)
Everything is based in squads, some have 3 or 4 figures on a squad base, some, like these, are based singularly because more won't fit.
Squad bases are usually 60mm circles with support elements on 60mm or 50mm circles depending on what they are. there are usually 3 squads to a unit (sometimes 2, sometimes 4 or 5 but 3 is usual). The Pardulon figures above will operate in threes and are on 50mm bases because they can destroy armoured vehicles and so count as heavy support elements.
Leaders/Heroes are based on 40mm bases (bigger if needed to fit them). Sometimes they will be based with a henchman/sidekick/partner etc, sometimes singularly.
The Librarian is separate from his Golem because he will ultimately be controlling more than just this one.
Dirty harry operates alone but Starsky and Hutch along with Crocket and Tubbs are based together because they work as pairs. (They should be on 40mm bases but 50mm looked better)
Marsellus Wallace and his gang shown here are a typical force. Three 60mm squad bases of goons (each base has 3 shooting dice), a single 50mm heavy support element (Jules and Vincent, deadly hit men with 4 shooting dice) and Marsellus himself on a 40mm leader base.
three or four groups like this make up an 'army' for game purposes.
I hope that helps to explain the basing conventions a little. Size and function means that a few things will not fit these conventions and so I adapt as necessary but, generally, the above holds true for 90% of my forces.
-
Aaaah! I wasn't expecting that you used crossfire for this too. lol
Now I get it.. ;)
-
Crossfire?..
This is...HELLFIRE!!!!!
-
Aaaah! I wasn't expecting that you used crossfire for this too. lol

More stuff, some will be split between this, Invasion of the Saucer People and the pulp sci fi that I'm starting in a day or two :)
These are from Hydra miniatures. 60mm bases
(http://www.matakishi.com/Rock%20creatures%20from%20Saturn%202%20600.jpg)
Plastic D&D figures (spotted the little one on a LAF thread, can't remember which one though, sorry). 60mm bases
More to come of course ;)
-
The creatures rate high on the icky scale!
-
when he says quiet you WILL be quiet !!!!
-
Nice!
I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with Hellfire rules-alteration-wise and scenario-wise. Inspiration is badly needed. lol
-
I hope to get the rules and ideas written up and posted on my site once the summer holidays begin (3 weeks). I might manage it before then but I doubt it.
-
Okay, more stuff, the weirdness continues...
The librarian has been busy:

I've posted the basic rules on my site, you'll need a copy of Crossfire to play :)

Oh Matakishi how could you!! :o CATS. Everyone knows its cats who fight the eldric horrors. They can jump from the roof tops onto the moon too. A useful skill no doubt.
Rob
-
You're right of course, originally these were going to be bad dogs with red eyes but I couldn't be bothered. Cats will come in time though, I have several :)

(Wipes brow) For a moment there I was afraid you'd have to hide your cat avatar for shame. MegaMinis has a pack of 12 cats you might like.
Rob
-
Will you be useing the Crazy Cat lady from Black cat bases to control said cats? :)
-
Yes.
-
The books are great! Wouldn't want to leave them overdue!
-
Nice work!
Those little rocks with legs are D&D minis called Galeb Dhur. I just bought 12 ^_^
